Best Mosquito Screen Add-on for Montana 3400RL?
Hi All,
I am a West Coaster and don't know much about them there mosquitoes... but apparently I'm going to get to know them first hand, up close and personal this year. First in Minnesota this summer, going all the way up to International Falls, then we will be heading down to Florida later in the year.
I'm looking for a specific recommendation for what to add-on to our doorway for a Montana 3400RL as far as a screened in area, etc., plus any other tips for keeping them out of our rig.
I expect to "man up" and deal with them as equals this year, but any first hand tips are very welcome as well.
Thank you,
Brett

I don't know anything you can do to your camper to keep more of them out. I have camped where there were mosquitos. I mean by the billions. Once on a friend's land in Jackson SC. When we rode our 4 wheelers in the high grass they came up like black snow and once at Union Pass in Wyoming. It's over 9000 feet up and oddly enough there was as many there as in Jackson. There are grassy areas in the spring, July up there that has about 4 inches of water on it with billions of them. There is even a Mosquito Lake. Where you will be I doubt there will be near that many.
Take some bug spray to use on your screens and in side if you need to. Keep deet on as needed and you shouldn't have too much trouble. They are most active in the early morning and late evening and night.
If all else fails you can always get a blood transfusion, just joking you probably won't need that.
Enjoy your trip.

When we were full time that was one of the reasons I liked getting set up by 3 or 4 in the afternoon. A couple times in the summer we were pulling in at 6 or 7pm and I got nailed.
In Florida there is "regular" screen wire and then there is "no see-um" screen wire. After getting about 100 no-see-um bites last winter in Florida I now have the better screen to keep them out.

like the old saying (what would you do if you have your nose broken in two places? stay out of those places. I try to not be where mosquitoes are.

Just hang a bottle of Plasma by the door with a straw. Refill often and when you get in the south refill more often.

You might try putting a small fan to blow out the door when its open to help keep them out.

We took a bicycle water bottle holder, wire tied it to the rail on our porch (or you could on the handrail for your steps), and then put a bottle of deep woods off in the bottle holder. As soon as we're out the door we sprayed head to toe. By the way, mosquitoes aren't your only worry's. Parts of Florida and Georgia have bitting flies that can either make you bleed, itch for days or both.
