Battery Failure
I have a 2013 Mountaineer with a 3 stage converter / charger and after checking the batteries today there is no visible water. I was under the assumption that the water would not boil off with that particular charger?

That charger has a button on the control board to hold it in a certain voltage output. Make sure your converter is not locked in a boost mode.
My battery is 2 years old and has not used a drop. A GP 24 Interstate.

ALL flooded lead acid batteries will either boil off or evaporate some water/acid over time. If you hardly ever use it and your converter isn't trying to over charge it, the amount will be very small, but they will still loose some. Sounds like you may have what was described by Jim, or it could be that you drew it down to where the converter boost charged it several times and the level got low enough that the converter stayed in boost mode trying to charge a dead battery that couldn't hold a charge. A new one won't run that much, but I'd check the water/acid level every week or so for a while to be sure there isn't a problem with the converter. If there isn't any or is only very little loss, it should be OK. And only use distilled water to fill it if you need to - only costs a buck or so a gallon at a grocery store. If you never use your battery but a few times a year, I'd still check the levels every two or three months.

Yep, new battery time. And just get in the mode where you check water levels often. It saves surprises and let's you know general health of system. Even in three state chargers, quality of product and how well it is engineered varies. My battery, new with unit, uses water! And the individual cells aren't equal in usage...so I know I will be in the purchase mode soon. But I still won't trust what was installed in the trailer as a top design for charging. Opinions, we all have them thankfully. John

Not knowing if you have level up, but if you do, you can manually check battery voltage on the level up control panel. We are in our rig about 8 months a year, so we do use it.
