Question What will it handle???

I just picked up my 2018 3130 and have a question as to what the rating is on the hitch in the back.

It LOOKS like a heavy 2 in receiver type, but the sticker says 200 pounds plus spare tire.

I that a 200 pound tongue weight, or is that the total tow weight?????

Hate to think that with that heavy steel hitch, It may not even be rated to haul my mother in law back there.

I called keystone and the person I spoke with had less of a clue than me.

Anyone know what the hitch rating is????

Thanks,
gordo

Lippert installs the hitch. I believe the 200# capacity is tongue weight which would equate to about 3000# tow rating based on the 12 to 15% ratio.

It’s not rated to haul your mother in law. It’s for you while she drives. Silly boy.

I'm sure I read somewhere that it is rated at 300 pounds, but can't put my finger on where I saw that. If I can find it I will post another response.

It's in the new Montana brochure - last inside page.

The 300Lb rating includes the weight of the bracket and any equipment you load on the bracket. ( thats what the sticker says on my hitch of my 3731FL. I hope this helps

ok, 300 pound tongue weight? If that is the tow weight, it is a waste of steel.

Itís not meant for towing. Only bike racks or accessory racks.

I found the 200 pound sticker on mine, but it says nothing about not towing. I guess it will be a storage shelf for something. Maybe my Treager..

Thanks to all for the info.

The key bit hint that it is meant for a carrying only vs allowing towing is the lack of a 4 pin plug for trailer lights.

You could always ask your salesperson. cue sinister diabolical sarcastic laugh.

Good point about no plug. Never thought of that....
