New toilet
We just replaced our Thetford Aqua Magic Style II with a Dometic 320. Very easy job. I went ahead and installed a water shutoff in the line close to the floor, and used a flexible hose like you'd use in standard home plumbing. It made the install much easier since the new toilet water inlet was a different height and off center compared to the old one. Speaking of the old one, the Style II Thetford in my opinion is not a very good design. The foot pedal has come off 3 times(spontaneously while we were away). We even ordered a new foot pedal to the tune of $50. It came off as well. Figured the problem was not the pedal. The spring wouldn't stay seated and would become cocked while installing the pedal. We were lucky the water valve(I think it should be spring loaded to close if the foot pedal comes off)didn't open. We've read the nightmares of flooded trailers and figured we've rolled the dice enough. Now about the Dometic 320. It's more of a residential design. Porcelain bowl(the Thetford was too), water spray jets around the rim and a lip around the rim to contain spray to inside the bowl, wooden seat, elongated bowl, smoother pedal operation, and much quieter operation. We looked at the Dometic 310 as well but thought the 320 was a worthwhile step up over the 310. Just thought I'd post in case anyone else is experiencing foot pedal problems.

Thanks for the info. The design of the Thetford foot pedal is a joke. Ours wore one of the ridges completely off, thus pedal wouldn't stay. Did the same as you and replaced the pedal. Holding for now, but not sure for how long.
I asked Thetford about the possibility of drilling a small hole into the center of the shaft to allow for a squirt of silicone spray once in a while, but was informed it didn't need any lube. How can you have two plastic parts working against one another and not expect it to wear, thought a little lube would help prolong it's life.
So may be time for us to look at the Dometic also.
Just an FYI, read the fine print on the Thetford site and the Aqua Magic Style II is listed as an "Entry Level Toilet". Doesn't sound good for continued use.

Didn't see that about the entry level thing. Sure did function and "last" like an entry level unit(kinda 'funny' cause these fifth wheels aren't exactly entry level). The difference between that Thetford and the new Dometic is night and day. Didn't really want to shell out the cash for a new one, especially after dropping $50 two months ago for a new pedal, but we're glad we did. Especially for the piece of mind.

Our first one crapped out and was replaced under warranty. When this one goes belly up we will be looking at the Dometic.

That's kind of what I thought about our SOB, especially since it's sold as a Residential unit and certainly not entry level.
