Now that sounds like a nice trip - should be fun traveling with someone else and also the safety of it - enjoy!

Mustang, You will have about a days head start on me (I live in far EAST Texas), but that is a trip we hope to take later this year. I hope you will post frequently about your experience. I will be expecially interested in your 'camping' conditions in the Los Angeles area.
Looking forward to reading your posts!

In the LA area, we will be staying at the East Shore RV Resort at San Dimas. Picked up that recommendation from the MOC site.

Mustang, thanks for the info about the LA area. We have already looked at their online site: looks good!
Judy, what a pleasure it would be for our paths to cross again--and they will sometime..... but that trip to California for us will be some months into the future. We have too many commitments here for the Spring months. But we will keep in touch online.

David,
You won't go wrong staying at East Shore. It is one of our favorite campgrounds. Plus we use to park there when I was working in LA or Orange County so I didn't have a long commute. Be sure to make reservations as it is a very popular place. Some of their sites are pretty small so be sure to tell them how big you are as they have some very large sites as well.
Happy trails........................

mustang92,
When you get to Bakersfield drop us a line and maybe we can arrange for a meeting. Do you have a place to park your rigs in Bakersfield? If not let me know and I can recommend some of the local parks. We also have a driveway that will accommodate one rig. We do have full hookups.
Have a great trip.

David,
That is a nice park. We have stayed there many times. The people there are very nice. Last time we stayed there was a post in the way of our slide and the owner/manager cut it down.
Happy trails.......................

This might be an exodus. I also am heading to California. I'm leaving on the 12th of march headed to Valencia Travel Village in Castaic Ca. Regrettably, I have not retired yet so I expect to be out there for about eight months or till the project is complete. Whichever comes first. My only dedicated stop is in Tombstone Az. The rest will be "as needed".

Rick and Wanda,
The KOA that we saw does have a nice view from up on the side of the hill BUT it is on the far west side of town. Perhaps there is another one in town that we did not see.
We stayed at a place called Shady Acres. It is about 5 blocks from the middle of town. The old part of town. Very nice folks there. We got sick there with a cold and had to stay much longer than we wanted. If you are Escapees members you get the first 2 days at $15. The manager/owner gave us several more days at the same cost! Very nice of them. The park is very clean and well taken care of. We would definitely stay there again.
By the way most of the new stuff in Las Cruces is now on the far east side of town out by the I-25.
Enjoy your trip.

Hamrad you are right. But it is close to the old section of town. And the view is spectacular. We were backed in one of the best spots to enjoy the view. It was cold out so we pulled the recliners out far enough to turn completely around and enjoyed a glass of wine.

We left Vermont on 20 Feb and after swinging south through Atlanta and headed west, on 6 March we arrived at Dockwiellers in LA.
Along the way we stayed in Las Cruses. We plan the be in East Shore in San Dimas in about two weeks, for our last week's stay in the area before heading to SF, Midpines, Buellton, and back toward home.
It has been an exciting trip thus far and we've been visiting our son and his family since our arrival.

We left Las Cruces today, stayed at La Hacienda Rv resort, very nice and fairly new; highly recommend. Arrived in Tucson area at Cactus Country Rv resort, and it too is very nice.
