Smell of propane sometimes
Some of the time we get a smell that may be propane in our 2002 2955 Montana. We have had it serviced 2 times and they said that we had a leak at the connectors of the pipe going across from tank to tank. The fittings were resealed but the smell has come back. It smells like bad garbage and we wondered if anyone else has had this problem.

We had a leak in ours when it was new between the tanks, but I took it apart and sealed it. It has been fine ever since.

Mine leaked at the curb side where the rubber hose hooks to the blk pipe when it was new. I also fixed mine it had a pretty bad leak. I still smell propane sometimes but I keep a spray bottle with blue dawn and water in the tank compartment and ck often. I have been told that a empty tank will smell because the stinky stuff is at the bottom. Don't know just sayin.

I bought a bottle of bubbles the kids use to get at the dollar store and found numerous leaks. I resealed just about all of the visible joints.

I chase a small propane leak every once in a while. They can come at any joint. My wife always smells it first.
My gas range smells when the tank in use, gets low. I replaced the regulator once but the new one stinks just like the old one. It seems to be a common problem. I just switch tanks and it goes away.

It's been our experience, too, that when a tank gets towards empty and we are using the water heater on propane, we smell the odorant. Like others have said, the smelly stuff that is added to propane seems to concentrate at the bottom.

I had this problem and changed the curb side regulator to the red 30 lb upgrade. Haven't had the problem since.

I finally found my propane leak on the opposite side of the trailer at the propane tank regulator. Since I bought mine used I have a question. Are there 2 regulators on Montana's? It sort of looks like it might have been added at some time. Since the leak came from the regulator, do I need to replace it or just buy a double female fitting?

There is several posts on this very subject do a search on regulators..the drivers side regulator MUST be there and once you read the different posts you will understand...if the one there is leaking replace it with a Marshall 30 lb C6121???...
