Wingard Satellite Dish
Has anyone installed a Wingard Satellite Dish yourself? How hard was it?
Thanks, Judy & Bob

There are several different types of Winegard sat dishes. Which one are you referring to?

I assisted in installing a Travl'r HD dish. The toughest part of the install was getting the dish onto the roof. The second toughest is running the coax down through the roof, the walls, under the floor to where you want the receivers. Mounting the dish to the roof was no big issue, put down the sealant and screw the base onto the roof. After ensuring the dish has room to move up and down and back into the travel position.

One of the other things to check if installing an automatic dish is to follow the instructions regarding the clearance with the rig's antenna. If you forget to put the antenna down first (we use it for local channels in combination with the Directv when we are out of our local spot zone), and the dish contacts it on the retraction of the dish, something is gonna give!! We took the easy way out and had the dealer do the installation.

Ditto Bingo's comments. We let the pros install ours. They had the lift to get the dish on the roof and all the sealant and hardware, that way if there was a problem we have someone to blame other than ourselves.

I have installed the Winegard Traveler SK-3005 we have on two different Montanas we have owned. bw2 has pretty much stated how it goes. On my second install I did use the metal base plate available for the Traveler. It gives more support for mounting to the roof.
Here is a link to a simple video showing how to install a Traveler roof mounted dish.

We had our Trav'ler installed at Camping World in Wilsonville, Oregon. The techs there usually do an install on a 2950 in less than 2 hrs.

Make sure to do your homework if you have not yet. For Directv HD, there is only one option available. Dish HD has several options that will work.

Dreamers2010, if you are interested in HD channels, I do not believe the dome will provide HD
