Ford F350 6.0 Diesel Problems
When I go to take off & step on the gas it won't go & there is a bunch of black smoke going out of the exhaust. I let up on the gas & let it idel for a few seconds then it usally goes.
It doesn't seem to do this when you first start out for the day, it's after you have been driving it for awhile.
It runs fine other times & doesn't seem to do it when we are pulling the camper. Which is in the tow/haul mode.

I suspect your turbo or EGR valve is starting to get clogged up and one or the other needs to be cleaned. You need to take somewhere where they can read your diagnostic engine codes.

thanks alot guys. i was hoping that it would show up on the scope. i didn't know if it was a warranty problem or not. i will be getting it in as soon as i can. thanks again.

With all the electronics, epa stuff on the engines, very few can diagnose, and work on them. My gut feeling is the turbo vanes sticking, or high pressuer oil leak but thats just a guess. I too believe it has to go to a shop where they can put the code reader on it. Good luck, let us know what it is. Bill

If you have a CarQuest around there, most of them will hook up their machine and tell you the trouble codes, no charge. I think CarQuest is the one, anyhow. They also should be able to tell you what the codes mean. That might give you some clues to the problem.

i finaly got my truck in and out of the shop. they said it was a ebp sensor and a reflash on pcm. they also cleaned a tube for something too. i don't understand but i hope it is cured. thanks to everone for there input.

I have a f250 06 and they replaced the turbo today and i was told that fits into the 100000 mile engin warrenty so take it in and fix it john

I have had 4 turbos and 2 EGR's replaced...the last time it did exactly what yours did.....but blew the two rubberized hoses connections on the turbo and the intercooler.......I think I will have to buy the extended warranty on this truck.. it seems it may be cheaper than getting rid of it...

The engin and all compontes are warrentyed to 100000 miles so the turbo is under warrenty as i was told by ford john

I have had one turbo replaced as well. Same problems as described earlier. BUT, while traveling to Florida last Feb 07, the same problem began to happen again. This time the 6.0 250 quit running completely and would not restart. Now I am not technical, but one of the connections for the High Oil Pressure system was faulty. Without the High Oil Pressure, a diesel will not run.
As a plug for the Ford Dealer, if you have a problem on the south side of Birmingham, AL., Long Lewis Ford is an excellent service department. They towed me to the dealer and "fir me in" to the daily work and I only lost one day of our trip! Clean sales and service departments, even the work bays. The service team were very kind and kept me informed through out the repair.
