Cleaning roof vent screens from INSIDE!!
Today I cleaned the screens in the roof vents.
From the inside.
Take the four screws out on the main holder attached to the ceiling.
Carefully pulling down very dirty.
Then remove the handle.
Then with a long Philips screw driver undo the the two screws holding
the screens in they are position one in the front and one in the rear.
Comes out easy and cleaned up well.
Also removed the fan blade in bathroom and washed that.

Those buggers do get dirty...I also have a habit of dropping a screw when doing that, so I cover those pesky heat vents when working anywhere nearby...the screw will always search that vent out...

Great information and good to know. Ours need to be cleaned badly and I am terrified of heights, so I will not be climbing on top of the Montana. Dick won't do it, so if I can do it from inside all will be well.
Thanks a bunch,
Patty

While that is certainly the best way to clean them. You can also do a fairly good job by wiping a sponge dampened with Windex (or similar) over the mesh. The damp (not really wet) sponge seems to grab the dust and fuzz and pull it off.

You might try using the extension wand on your vacuum cleaner with the round dust brush attachment. Works for us....can't see the dirt, no reaching, no tools.

After spending the winter in Yuma AZ and summers in NH, not only the dust and dirt, they really needed washing, also to get some little debri on top of the screens even through we have vent covers.
To keep up with general cleaning we do use the vaccumm wand, but sometimes they really need to be washed.

I use a can of compressed air, for computers to blow stuff off of the screen. We have not had or used our camper long enough to have a real problem with dirty screens yet. Just get bugs or leaves laying on them.

I haven't tried it yet but, I have been told that a hair dryer will work like a leaf blower and blow the dirt, dust, etc. out of the screen.

My previous older model TT had screens that dropped down by just removing two long screws. I don't understand sometimes why things have to get harder rather than easier. I noticed MaxAir now has installation hardware that allows the vent cover to be "hinged" for easy cleaning from topside (doesn't solve any acrophobia however).

Update:
Just used a Swiffer on both sides of the screen door. Wow! worked very well!

Tack cloth is also good for the screens - especially if you can get to both sides.

On many vacuums such as our Rainbow, you can attach the hose to the discharge side of the vacuum. Then all you must do is put the crevice tool on the end of the hose to concentrate the air flow and increase it's velocity and you can blow the dirt out of the screens.

Several swipes with a damp washcloth will do it most of the time.
