Keep hanging in there Lisa. You are getting to the worst part but it will soon be over the hump day. We are all still here rooting for you. Now would be a good time to start a blog. You get so busy with it that you can't even think of anything else.

That's the second smartest thing you ever did. I don't know what the first is but it was probably deciding to get a Montana......

Lisa,
You go girl 10 days and smoke free. It is only going to get better and better from here on out. Cold and Flu season is just around the corner. Healthy lungs will help fight off that kind of stuff. You can do it.!!!!

Way to go Lisa!!! Wow, it sounds like you are just doing great!! Al quit smoking over 25 years ago. Now he can't stand to even be around it. He says to tell you "It's a tough road, but you can make it!" Hang in there, we are all pulling for you, cause that's what Montana people do!

We are so proud of you! Each day start out knowing you will not smoke today. I have been smoke free for 15 years and I can really appreciate what you are going through, Lisa. I drank lots of fluids and printed scripture and cut them on business size for my pocket. Each time I would unconciously reached for a cigarette, I would find the scriptures there instead. I would memorize one a week and meditate on it each time when I had the urge.
I would also think ahead of the things that triggered my desire for a cigarette....talking on the phone, driving a car etc. and planned how I was going to be ready for it when I do those things.
You hang in there and I will be personnaly praying for you. Just think how free you are when you don't smoke.
-Dick

I quit many, many times but had trouble staying quit. I was both physically and psychologically addicted. What finally did the trick was the Nicoderm patch. The patch fed me nicotine for the physical addiction while my psychological side got past the physical pleasures of smoking. Yes, to a smoker they are pleasures.
Taking my doctor's advice, for the first couple of years I kept some nicoderm patches around. When I got one of those strong impulses to buy cigarettes, on went a patch. A few days and I weaned back off the patch.
Ten years this past November 8th.

Lisa, That's fantastic. I am a one time quitter. I smoked for 25 years and in 1983 my brother in law died of lung cancer and I was in the beginning throws of asthma. I took my cigs out of my shirt pocket and threw them in the wastebasket in my doctors office and never smoked again. Other than marrying my wife of 37 years, that was the smartest thing I have ever done. Just keep telling yourself you don't need them and it will work out. We are all pulling for you.......

Without the first 2 the last would not be as much fun!

Congradulations.... I know how hard it is. I quit while in Canada in 1988. I ran out of smokes, and couldn't afford to buy them in Montreal. Haven't had once since, and like Al, I can't even stand to be around the smoke.
Keep up the good work.

Congratulations....wife and I both quit on Halloween 2005. There has not been a cigarette smoked in our Monty....old trailer had soot on everything. Like everything else, just got to take it one day at a time...it gets easier...and keep those $$'s for something you really want!

Lisa,
Good for you! You can do it, sounds like you have made your mind up.
1. It is so unhealthy for one to smoke.
2. It is a nasty habit.
3. There are fewer places to smoke.
4. Others may move away from you because you smoke.
5. It is really a expensive habit.
6. Your time on earth will be short if you smoke.
I quit almost 7 months ago. In my tough moments I also ate jalapeño peppers stuffed with pimento.
You can do it, we are proud of you!
Weldon

Well done Lisa - you are through the tough part now. Having been there it is good to see someone else succeeding. You will get "the urge" now and then but it will pass very quickly. After a dozen years without nicotine it still happens.
There really should be a T-Shirt for the winners!
