Furnace won't come on.
Two years ago we had an issue with the furnace shutting off and not coming back on. I could get it to start again by resetting the thermostat, but then it would do it again later that night. We replaced the thermostat, the furnace board and were about to replace the board in the AC (all over the weekend since stuff never breaks in a timely manner). On Monday our mobile repair man was able to talk to Dometic (Atwood is owned by Dometic) and they had us replace the sail switch. Doesn't sound right but it worked for two years. Last night it started again. It's been a bad year, as the repair guy was coming out today anyway to replace a leaking water heater (on this particular model the water heater is on the door side and almost impossible to get at so I hired help) Since we were going to be at it a while I fired up the furnace and this time it locked up while we worked on the water heater. This is what we found. The sail switch was sticking open so when the thermostat sent the message to the boards one or both of them registered that the sail switch said the furnace was still running and so nothing happened. Replaced that switch and all is good again, except for the damage to my bank account mostly for the water heater.
