Electronic Door Locks
We are thinking about adding the electronic door locks to our 3731-FL with two entry doors. We would like to know two things:
1) What are the best most dependable brands?
2) Can you order them so that you only need one key for both doors? (Most locks have 3 ways to enter - code, fob, and Key).
Any help will be appreciated.
Oh, one other thing, I have an F-150, will it pull it? Just kidding!

I have one. Go to RVlock.com. Lighted key pad and you can program your own number code into it.Got mine last fathers day and got two key fobs with it was part of the fathers day deal. You can ask if you can get two of them keyed alike. Good luck.

I ordered (2) RVlock off Amazon, I have the 3731 with 2 doors also, i didnt worry about 1 key for both doors as you program the code and single fob for both doors, I keep the keys in the basement. They are very easy to install and work great

We had three RV Lock brand locks on our old rig. One installed by Lippert at their factory, one installed by Lippert at the National Rally and another installed by Lippert at Q. The longest one worked was one month. Others have had good luck, but we won't go there again.

Our 2010 Mountaineer just had a key lock. We replaced it with a AA battery operated one that has a lighted touchpad and a key for backup. I think it has 2 AA batteries which we have to replace about once a year. It has worked great. The only issue we had was when I replaced the batteries, our code didn't work anymore. Went thru the procedure for resetting the code and it works fine. We never carry a key anymore. Just hide the key in case you ever need it. I don't know what brand it is since I'm not at the RV. But we bought it from GNLRVSPECIALTIES.COM.

Our previous (SOB) trailer came with one, so when we traded it for the Monty, it's the first thing we bought. Not having to carry your keys all the time is so handy!
We bought a Bauer lock from RV Upgrades, online. Works great.
We also hide a key just in case.

Some have had issues with Bauer, while others problems with RV Lock.
We're using the RV Lock that was in our previous unit, just swapped during our transfer. Been working fine now for over six years.

I’ve had two of the RVLock models with the separate keypads. We loved them. Until they failed. Both of the the key pads failed. Fool me once,; it’s your fault. Fool me twice; it’s my fault. Some have better luck with the models with the integrated key pad.

We purchased 2 RV Locks for our 3731FL to be installed in the spring. Watch their website for sales we got it on the black Friday sale at 40% off. I believe they run one around Memorial Day for 30% off or at least they did last year. I had a Bauer lock on my old camper but this RV lock has way better reviews and seems much sturdier plus it comes with a key fob we will leave in our vehicles. That way we can unlock the doors as soon as we pull in. Good luck.

What's the allure of electronic locks? I'm curious. I've read lots of security articles lately telling folks to be very, very cautious of these because of bad security concerns with them. I'm no expert but just wondering.

I loved having keyless entry on my old camper to not have to worry about carrying keys. The standard handles on a lot of campers are actually easier to break into then the keyless ones. I suppose there is good and bad for each, but for me I prefer the keyless. I am attaching an article that explains a little better than me.

I have a 2012 3750FL and I replaced both my door locks about 4 years ago with locks from RVlocks. I got 2 locks, one electronic lock for my main fwd door that I use all the time and one non electronic for the aft door that I never use. I had them keyed the same. I had a great experience with their customer service. I had a problem with the board and they sent me a new board no problem. That was 4 years ago.
I just went to their website to check it out. It looks like they improved on their locks and add a lot more. When I bought mine they only made locks for 5th wheels and not for class A RVs. They now make locks for class a RVs. I like the electronic lock.
What's the allure of electronic locks? The same allure of having them on your car. Do you walk up to your car and put your key in the door to unlock it or do you push the button on your key fob?
IMHO as far as security is concerned. We all know how cheaply our 5th wheels are built. I don't think security is one of their concerns when they build them. Take a look at your entry door and aluminum frame. That little dead bolt that sicks out a 1/2" on all our door locks, electronic or not, is not going to stop some who wants in. Our doors can be popped open with pry bar or large screw driver. I don't know if that changed on the newer models but that's how it is on mine..

We have a 2018 Montana 3121RL have the RVLock entry lock. We love it works great.
I have heard but have not tried the outside cabinet locks by RV Lock, heard they don’t fit bc the new Montana’s cabinet doors are a little thick but I would call RV Lock to confirm they may have corrected that.

I also replace my 1/4 turn outside cabinet locks on my 2 propane compartment doors and the generator compartment door with the round key barrel locks. I had them all keyed the same. I didn't get them from RV locks. I got them from Padlocks 4 less and they work great.

Did I read that right? You installed locks on the propane doors? Isn't that against D.O.T. regs.?

I herd the same thing about locks on propane doors. Never seen a lock on a propane door on any form of camper or motor home.

I just use a padlock on the loop on the bottle straps in the compartment. It wont stop a thief but will slow him down and may convince him to go elsewhere. If there is an accident or fire - those bottles can be turned off though not easily removed - (yeah, I know)
