Thanks for the update. I wished they would have pulled them years ago. Sure would have made it easier to shop for a new unit. I would never buy a unit from that high priced place. Support the independent dealers. Just my 1 1/2 cents.

They are only 2 minutes from my storage site, but would not dream of buying from them as their service department chases business elsewhere. I would not want them servicing a new unit that I had recently bought from another dealer.

The individuals knowledge of Rv pricing and skills as a negotiator will get one a good price anywhere. We have never purchased a RV from CW as there was never one nearby that had the model we wanted. We have used CW service department with no problems but they are Not a preferred choice as again one has never been nearby and they are usually far more busier that the average dealer.

From comments on RV sites, seems CW service is hit and miss depending on the particular location. Used them one time to install a 2nd A/C. Not a particularly good experience.

I've been trying to move any business of mine away from any of the CW Divisions unless there is not an alternative - that is one BIG Octopus

Not sure RV Trader is a good deal for any of the retailers.

The only service we have had at CW was the installation of our Air Bag system on both of our F-350's .We purchased there because the price was right and the installation and service was excellent. We buy things at CW if the price is right.
There are good and bad service providers dealer or otherwise everywhere as evidenced by post on any RV forum. It took 3 weeks to get our Montana in to our local dealer as they were backed up with service request. Last time we needed parts from Keystone from the same dealer it took over 3 weeks to get them from the vendor.

It looks like with all the bad publicity CW gets they would straighten up their act. They all would make a lot more money.

if they were serious about upping their reputation on service They would send out surveys at a national level and either show national ranks or offer rewards to the top shops.

Like other chain type businesses, it falls on the management of each particular location to provide quality customer service. And the quality of that management falls directly on national corporate for selecting, training, and monitoring the people managing each location.
In my case I had CW install a 2nd A/C. 80 mile round trip and told it would take 1 1/2 hours. After 2 1/2 hours I asked service manager how much longer. He said the tech could not get the A/C to run and they would have to order another. Come back next week.
Returned next week, 80 mile round trip, expecting another couple hours. Different tech came to me after 1/2 hour and said I was ready to go. I said that was awfully fast to replace the unit with the new one. He said all he did was troubleshoot the existing one, found the mounting bolts overtightened and preventing the fan from running, adjusted that, and all was fine. He knew nothing about a new one.
Went to the service manager and told him what the tech found. He just shrugged his shoulders, muttered under his breadth, and that was it. No apology. No sorry about that. No offer to make good in any way. I ask to see the store manager but was told he was “not available”.
I will give the original tech the benefit of the doubt and say he was not properly trained and monitored, rather than incompetent. Service manager and store manager I would definitely classify as incompetent and in the wrong line of work.

6 years ago on the A/C issue and I have not been in a C/W since then. I did buy a 50 amp extension cord from them on line, but only because their sale price was much lower than any other I could find.

Have never had service at CW, but i have had terrible service at the dealer we purchased our rv from. I don't believe there is a service dept. Anywhere that gives good service from what I have heard and read.

We have a little dealer Toneys RV 5 people total, here in Salem Va that gives better than great service. I’ve seen them fix things on new campers that I didn’t see as a problem. I wouldn’t have fixed them on my camper. Campers that had been bought by out of state customers. These people couldn’t bring them back to to have them fixed even if they found the problem.

In the area of the CW I use for service $65,000 - $75,000 is a good rate and they make that, some more.

I think most dealers pay way less and most techs do not make anywhere close to that, so that will cause a high turnover rate for sure.
I found out recently thru warranty service if a MFG agrees to pay say 2 hours for a repair and the tech goes over that they don’t get paid for the difference. This would sort of make sense why Dealers don’t want to service what they didn’t sell, but all that stuff needs to be fixed.
Unlike Autos theirs are too many models of RV’s and too many types for techs to know them all well enough to fix them correctly, unless the industry improves on Customer Relations and training, this will be the case for a long time.
