Have you tried closing off the step vents that allow major cold air to escape into the basement? I capped them off with cardboard (insulation) on backside and covered my floor heat vents with magnetic covers. I can hold it down to 71-72 in 100 degree heat and high humidity. Of course, you have to remove the setup to use the heat in the Winter. As far as a third unit goes, if you go that route I would run independent power to plug into the 20 amp plug at the pedestal to avoid being too strapped on amps. The ceiling may not be braced properly in that vent either?
