If not one has tired it, which I'm sure they have, I did today, and what a snap. The PEX fittings are very easy to work with. Also, right from the city connection, I was able just to unscrew the pex elbow and add my new lengths of pipe. I now have the filter installed in the under storage on the side wall, easy to access, and piped to everything, weather I fill the tank or use pressurized water.

Last week I did a similar mod by permanently installing my filter/softener in the same space in the basement. Works great.

I will take a picture and post it, I have changed a few things since my original install. Id like to include a bypass as well, but I'm having trouble locating a bypass valve with PEX barb fittings. I"m trying to avoid using the compression fittings.

ok, I have pictures of the finished product , but don't know how to upload them here...

well ok thanks , ill have to find a place online to store them and then upload, I will work on that this weekend.

OK, I got it, here are the pics...

Thanks for posting the pictures! The modification looks great!!! I plan to study the pictures and do something like this to mine shortly. Really like the filter bracket location - easy access. Perhaps a newbie question; what kind of filter is that? Thanks.

its a Flow Pure, the label on the canister is facing the wall. Yes, easy to access, and I put the by pass valves high enough, so once I installed the wall panel back in place, I can just reach over the top to open and close the valves. Camping wor1d for 29 bucks for the kit. I switched out the filter inside for the Camco EVO filter, it does a better job I think.

Bill, when you come to the Central Plains Rally I'll show you how we did our whole house filter. We put a clear one on so we could see what the filter inside looks like and if it needs changing. Looking forward to meeting you in July!

Ed,
I appreciate the pictures of your installation. One question: it looks like one output line from the filter includes a red water line. Do you know where that red water line goes ? On our 2012 3150, it appears to go to our black tank flushing system, hence my question.
Thanks !

Very nice install!! I bought a full coach water filter from www.rvwaterfilterstore.com I have mine only placed in with a cut rv water hose right now, but have all the fittings and the crimp tool to put pex in the place of the flexible lines. Just haven't taken the time to do it yet.

I bought a whole house filter from Home Depot... cartridges are also avail there or anywhere... Installed it on the wall in the convenience center.... I also used a cut up fresh water hose and brass GH fittings

I made up a dual filtration system a couple years ago for travel plus the water at our 'home' CG comes from Lake Champlain. Whoever controls the lake level lowered the water level to help maintain other area water supplies as we were having a mini drought. This in turn left the water tasting lousy since the local town had to add more treatment chemicals. I pretty much duplicated the S&B system I built when the local water authority started using Hudson River water and after treatmet still tasted and smelled like swamp water.

Housings are from Amazon as are the filter media. Fittings are from Home Depot and the potable water hose - Camco (??).

The pre filter is a DuPont WFPFC9000 and final filter is a PENTEK GAC-10. These easily last the season with great tasting water.

That center pipe is the stand which is slipped over a piece of sharpened rebar driven into the ground outside the water cabinet.

Works for us:D
