I have the GMC and use all the bells and whistles! I set the cruse control in tow mode and turn on the engine brake and drive via a button on the steering wheel. While monitoring the truck and trailer tires. Love this truck.I had a 2014 RAM 2500 Cummins for 103K miles. Then the trans quit. Bought a GMC Duramax 2500 and I am really enjoying it now. The Standard bed is long enough that I don't have to use a specialized kingpin to allow sufficient turning radius. Buy what you like and will do the job for you. My RAM was a Tradesman with all the upgrades needed without all the Package extras. My GMC has all the bells and whistles many of which I don't use. Both trucks were 4X4 as that option added many suspension upgrades as well as the ability to get out of sticky situations. I had to use 4WD while at Quartzite one time just to get out of the gravel in the parking area near the big tent and I was not even towing.
