Two times in a row I have signed in and found a thread where I could help someone. I composed a lengthy reply but when I tried to post was told I was not signed in. When I signed in my work was lost and I was given a chance to start over. No thanks, not going through that again.

I believe you need to ensure you "click" on the "Remember Me" box on the login screen. Failure to so will result is the problem you have.

When that happens, simply click on the log-in and go ahead and log in again. NOW .... use the BACK arrow button on your BROWSER, click it 3 times and you'll go back to your post, it won't be lost. Now click "post". You are actually logged in now, your original script is still there, and you can post now.

Just use your browser back arrow, not the BACK key on your keyboard. You'll go back to your comment you attempted to post.

I do this ALL the time, because my page will time-out before I actually get to post and force a new log in. I'm just too long winded and take too much time typing things out.

This works, I know, I've done it more times than I can count. It also works like this on the other RV Life forum sites too.

Note: The "Remember me" works only if you have cookies enabled. If they are disabled, you'll be forced to a new log in, the page will time out. I use the Brave Browser and Duck Duck Go as my search engine. Cookies are accepted but deleted when I close the browser. But sites still act funky when you have your cookies set up this way. This site is one of them.

Thanks. I'll try that next time. Another newbie question. I have added my rig info to a signature but it still doesn't appear in my posts.

It doesn't seem to show up on the mobile site. Are you on a phone or tablet?
Try checking the "Use Desktop Site" option on your mobile browser if so and you should see it, albeit small.

If I'm writing a long post, I do it in Google Notes, then copy and paste it.
I've had my browser time out on me too and lost the whole post by the time I'm done writing.

Strange! I use FF on my laptop and Chrome on my tablet or phone. I never logout. I also never get timed out or logged off. The "Remember Me" does what it is supposed to do. I don't know if cookies make a difference. I don't block them but I do clean them our periodically.

We use cookies to keep folks logged in as they navigate around the site. If your browser is deleting cookies at page changes or your security scheme is set to do this you may be logged out as you hit "submit on a post or change the page.

Browsers will have an exception capability so you can allow cookies from a specific site. You should be able to do this without having tracking cookies set by advertisers follow you ;)

I need to log in every time I visit, but that is because I use FF and I smoke my history and cookies every time I close the app. This is not a big deal for me because I use a PW manager and it remembers ands logs me in with a touch of my finger print on my MacBook Pro, or Face ID on the iOS devices.

As others have said, of you are writing a novel that you don't want to risk losing to some hiccup, write it in some notes app and copy and paste it in your reply here. Sometimes that even gives you a little time to re-think or re-phrase your answer.

Welcome aboard!

Interesting thread. Generally I use Edge and have to log in the first time I reply. I hadn't noticed till just now but I've been replying all morning and never asked to log in. I'm using Duck, Duck, Go now so that must be the difference.

As Carl said, the Remember Me function works well. I use both FF and Brave on my Windows desktop and Windows laptop, Safari on my iPad, and Chrome on my Android phone. All of them Remember Me and keep me logged in...no timeouts, etc.
