Weight of WalMart stuff.........

Hello all,
How many of you have weighed all the things installed and carried in from the stick house, and WalMart?
It would be interesting if anyone actually knows how much weight was brought in.
I know when we unloaded the 30' Keystone Sprinter, it seemed we would never get it done. We had (have) stuff all over!
On the Good Sam Forum, I think I remember some posters had lists and weights.
Would be interesting..............

A pillow can weigh 2 pounds, ditto a sweater, is that what you are talking about Ozz

Go to an online catalog at Sears, etc. What is the shipping weight of a toaster (more than you would think, I'll bet!!!)

It becomes quite a shock!! What stuff REALLY weighs!!!

Well, I remember someone weighed the groceries, clothes, tools, chairs, (pillows), generator, extra batteries, sewing machine, x-box, BBQ grill and all that stuff, it did add up....

Are we supposed to have groceries in the Monty? I thought when you are in a RV you were on vacation and you didn't have to cook

I don't want to weigh the things that I have bought at Walmart. I plead the fifth ...... Honey I don't know who put that in the Monty.

We really don't have anything in our cabinets only in the cargo area.... just give me time, unless I keep reading the post about the weights in our rigs. Gosh they will ruin a good shopping day at the mall.

Now our stuff is basically Zero that we get from WalMart. If it is food, it is a replacement for an item already consumed. If we get clothes then it replaces a worn item or when the new item gets to the 5W something else has to go. Got rid of the Dust buster and got a new one(but it is about 6 oz larger ) So it is a net sum zero for the most part!

We weighed our unit before we put anything in it. Now we weigh it once a year to check on our input.

We use out rig 6 weeks a year. Ball park figure, we pack 1000 pounds of stuff , flats of water, beverages, tools, groceries, clothes, way too many clothes. If we were fulltimeing I am sure we would have to double that figure.

Don, That sounds realistic, boy, it really adds up.
It's like when you move, you never realize how much 'stuff' you have.

Hey, iffn you all are overweight with excess WAL*MART(actual spelling according to their sign) stuff and you'll be attending the MOC rally in September you can put your rig on a diet. I'm planning on having an RV site sale (kinda like a yard sale) where you can all get rid of all that excess WAL*MART stuff and maybe take in a few bucks in the process.

Glen is right on the spelling and don't forget that while travelling they have the best rates around. The money I save on campgrounds, I don't mind spending on stuff. The Walmart in this pic is in Hinton Alberta, right next to Jasper National Park where our Canadian Government now charges a cool 50 bucks CAD per night. Aren't taxes grand. Anyway I have seen a couple dozens of RVS in here even in April.

Talk about being surprised about the weight. I purchased a 4" Serta foam topper for our King bed in the 3400RL we just took delivery on. Yesterday, there was a huge box on my door step with a sticker saying it weighed 55lbs! It is heavy and there goes my pin weight.

It all adds up, and in a hurry, I wish I could find the Good Sam post about weights, when a poster listed everything on board. It was amazing.

FUNNY THAT YOU ASK ABOUT WEIGHTS. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT CAMPING WORLD CATALOGS DO NOT LIST WEIGHT ON HARDLY ANY ITMES THEY SELL. SEEMS ODD THAT A COMPANY THAT SELLS DIRECTLY TO RV OWNERS THAT THIS WOULD BE A BIG ISSUE AND SOMETHING THEY NEED TO CONSIDER. IVE WRITTEN THEM BUT NOTHING SEEMS TO HAVE CHANGED.

The weight issue with CW confused me, too. I have a boat and order lots from catalogs...ALL have the weight listed. Probably to compute shipping costs more than anything else. Maybe CW figures if we don't know the weights we'll order more. Go figure.

Glenn, I'm already starting my rally garage sale list, including a discontinued model 50 amp autoformer that works perfectly for 30 amp use but boosts just one side of 50 amp (by design and why it was discontinued.) I'm going to sell it cheap. Like $50. I bought a brand new one that does both sides of 50 amp so don't need the other one any more. It was new last January although has been discontinued for awhile.

Sounds like a good deal Steve. Been using my Autoformer this month due to the hi temps and everyone running their A/Cs. When we are here in the winter I have it in line but never really need it as the voltage here stays a constant 115V to 120V.

It sure makes a difference. I've had the first autoformer online since we got here July 2nd. I forgot until yesterday I had turned on the electric element of the water heater. In the time we've been here, the AC has run constantly, we've used the washer and dryer, the microwave, several fans, tv, etc., and the water heater electric element kicking on, as well. We've never been able to run that much at one time in this older electrical system without kicking a breaker. But we never tried this with the autoformer in place. I was told it would allow me to run more items when it was boosting and now I'm convinced.
