On my 2014 3402RL I've been trying to better understand the plumbing system and re-winterize it to assure myself the RV tech did it right at PDI. I'm sure he did but I couldn't observe all the steps he did because he was fast. Not his first winterizing :)

I hooked my 30 PSI regulated compressor to the black water flush first, and then hooked it to the fresh water connection. I blew each faucet hot and cold separately and went on to the next. I added antifreeze to the traps as well. Lastly, I ran the normal cycle on the washer for a couple of minutes to assure the air was coming into the washer via both hot and cold connections. I canceled that, then put a quart of RV antifreeze in the drum and ran a drain and spin cycle.

Well everything went as planned except I had antifreeze coming out the sewer connection when I removed the cap to check it. I was puzzled since both grey and black water valves were shut. No harm done to the environment because I've never had anything in the tanks but fresh water during PDI. So I looked under the Monty and saw that the 4" drain comes out of a compartment to the sewer cap but has 2 other 1 1/2" lines attached before the cap. One seems to be the vent on the roof and the other seems to be the washer drain or at least it in the same area. Does this make sense?? I can see the logic because washing uses a lot of water and dumping it to the holding tank could cause overflows.

Our washer drain goes to the Gray tank but a lot of them go directly to the sewer connection. If it is connected to the tank you should leave the valve open or you could get a surprise ask me how know.

Okay, thanks all for the confirmation. I think I need to camp near a CW to see how all this plumbing stuff works. It was much easier on my 1992 Class C Tioga. You just pulled the dinette seats up and there was the pump, water heater, freshwater tank, etc. Now it's all nicely hidden under the chassis.

It's not really that bad, a couple of screws and it's all available.

Ours is hooked into our grey tank and if I ever get under there to fix a broken tank I'll be changing it. You only do a couple of loads and then your grey tank is full, having it go into the gray tank really doesn't help anything much. For the most part you still can only do laundry when you're hooked up to a sewer.

Our new 2013 3725RL has a sticker that states the washer drain is NOT connected to any tanks and goes straight to the drain.....We found that the Sticker LIES!! Our washer drain goes straight to the Gray Tank for the bathroom. We found this out by using the washer (thinking it was connected straight to the drain) and ended up filling our Gray Tank and over flowing into the hallway soaking the carpets. Good thing we were home when it occurred.

We found the same thing on our 2013 3700. There is the sticker on the wall at the washer hookup that says straight out but it goes to the front gray tank. We only had it come up in the shower.

I never saw the sticker, right or wrong, because I had the Dealer add the Washer and dryer before I picked up the 3402RL. The closet is full once the W/D are installed and that's all you see. Not sure how you can even cut off the water without pulling the W/D out. They bound the two units together with a bracket so they are very stable.

It is pretty easy to see how it's plumbed to the sewer directly once you stick your head under the Monty and look. Completely out in the open. We just didn't think to look originally.
