Tools in my new 3850FL

The 3850FL has three hydralic slides and two electric slides. I believe these tools are for emergency operation of the electric motor driven slides.

We got two as well with our 3750, but of course were not told anything about them! Just found them in one of the kitchen drawers. We had the exact experience as our walk through person had been on the job 1 week. He was more clueless than we were, if that is possible!

Now I'm curious why you'd need two if only is needed at a time, or did I miss something? Are these prone to breakage? Do the two electric slides go out at the same time? Therefore the two tools? Coordinating the manual operation could be an effort. This has me baffled.

Giving away two of anything when it's not needed seems like a waste especially if it's for slides that should always work (we hope). They could use the cost of the extra tool for so many other places and needs in the rig.

I had one of the cables break on one of my electric slides but the other pulled it in to my great relief! Actually it wasn't the cable but the little knobby thing at the end of the cable that fits into the bracket on the slide.

These tools are different. The tips are different sizes. I am going to attempt to e-mail Keystone Customer Support for an answer on why two were left in the kitchen drawer.

Keystone responded to my e-mail inquiry with a single sentence reply indicating the tools were to retract the slide outs. I am going to try a phone call to them for a, hopefully, more detailed explanation, which I will post.

This will let you know which tool goes with the electric slides. I would guess that the other one is the manual tool for the hydraulic slides. That can be checked in the battery compartment at the end of the slide motor. You should have received a manual that details the manual retract procedures for both types of slides.

Thanks Seahuner and bncinwv. No information on this was included with my volumes of manuals. Thanks to you all I now know how it works. Hope I don't have to actually use them.

No kidding! I like how they put all this info on the website like the average guy can just repair the slide-out. Maybe the average guy can, but I sure don't think I can!
