Tire wear on one tire only

I have a 2019 Montana High Country 385BR with Blackhawk BTR55ST 235/80x16 G rated tires. I set the pressure to 90psi cold based on my GVW. At 110 PSI, the load would be capable of over 16K pounds. The issue is, only one tire is wearing badly on the inside of the tire, exposing the steel belt. The other three have an even tread wear. What could cause such a difference of wear on one tire?

Might be a loose spindle nut or bad bearing(s). One way to check is to lift the wheel off the ground, then grab the tire at 3 and 9 o’clock and try to rock it in/out to see if you can detect play. Another way to check is if you have a plastic cap on your center hub cover, you might be able to check the spindle nut by removing the plastic cap and then the rubber cap in the grease cup. If the nut doesn’t have a cotter pin or D washer to keep it located, it may have backed off. However, you won’t be able to rock the tire using this method.

Could also be a bent axle. There were recent threads on this site about it. You can search for “bent axle” or “tire wear”.

Tire wear

We had same problem. Had it aliened and was off. They said maybe I hit something. Had it taken care of and no more issues. The shop will check everything out also.

We had similar wear on two of our tires. Axels were way out of alignment. Had alignment done, but only have about 1200 miles since with new tires, but wear seems fine now after the alignment.

Camber issue on that axle... A loose wheel bearing or very worn wet bolt bushings could also contribute... but I suspect the camber is bad on that axle ( spindle bent on one side ) otherwise both tires on same axle would be worn on inside rib if the actual axle camber was bad

I had that same thing happen once. I figured it was just tire skidding when back up into tight campsites, so just ignored it for over over a year. One day, I took the Montana in for it's annual wheel bearing repack and I had them inspect everything under the trailer. Turned out it was a bent axle. A few weeks later, a new tire, a new axle, and a little more cash out of my billfold and we were back on the road! Tires have shown no wear at all now for 3 years.

Alignment issue.
Front axels usually get hit with road damage before aft?
Check axel spindle for loose or too much play in bearing.
Next -possible bad or bent axel
your lower inflation while within load limits
is probably accelerating the alignment/edge wear.

There are places that will bend back or straightening axels.
I use Straight Line suspension in Mesa AZ.
There should be someone near you.
