Tire Prices - Sailun and Goodyear

I've been looking for new tires and the pricing seems to be all over the place. I also see that the Sailun S637T ST235/85R16 tires are about half the price of the Goodyear G614 LT235/85R16 tires.

I'm wondering what everyone else is paying for those two tire brands and where did you buy them from.

I use Simple Tire as there is not a local dealer that handles the bigger Sailun.

My info is 32 months old but at that time for the Sailun it was $165 a tire. Mount balanced, and new metal valve stems. American Quality Tire in Kansas City.

I bought my last Sailuns (~$145) from Walmart online and they were delivered to my house.

I just replaced all 5 of my old 2016 Sailuns with new Sailuns from Meyers Tires at 168.50ea balanced and installed. It took a couple weeks because i wanted all the same manufacture dates. We have had really good luck with ours.

The last time I bought the G614's, they were about $400 each, and because they still are only rated as an LT tire, they don't have sufficient capacity to equal the Sailun's for the same size. The G614 only comes as an 85 series tire, too.

We are still rolling on our set of sailuns. Dot date 5216. Installed in May of 17. I keep 303 on them at all times multiple times a year and the trailer is stored inside of a bull Barn completely out of the weather. We're going to try and push it to 10 years and see what happens. They only have about 17,000 rolling miles on them currently

beeje, your tires sound like mine. Lots of tread, etc. Made 01 of 16 installed 04/17. Had 2 blowouts on the trip home from Wyoming to Mesa, Az 2 weeks ago. Dealer said trailer tires rarely wear out, they age out. (I goofed and thought they were only 2 years old) So you might want to re-think 10 years. Oh, the first blowout tookout 3 j panels, the fender, and 2 slideout vertical edge pieces.

Yeah I hear you. I certainly don't want or need the trailer to be destroyed. But 90% of the time the trailer sits in the pole barn completely out of the weather and sunlight with the tires off the ground. You just can't get any better conditions than that to protect the tires

And I also have a TPMS that monitors all trailer tires and truck tires including the spares

Ultraviolet damage from the sun isn't the only damaging thing to these tires. Ozone is another thing that will cause damage and parking out of the sun and truck loads of 303 does nothing to protect the tires.

I respectfully disagree.
To me, Baking in the sun's ultraviolet rays is the number one reason for tire degration just like the roof shingles and siding on your house.
Although your statement is correct it's not the only thing that causes Tire degration

Last time we bought a tire for the rig it was from NTB , good price with a military discount.

My Sailuns are 5 yrs old this 8-1-18. Less than 1000 miles per yr in the last 5 yrs since we don't do Arizona anymore. Think I will push it another year and then replace for the last time. Tires look brand new and keep them inflated to 90#. My trailer is a 3000RK with a GVW of 14,220. 35 1/2 ft long. I paid $676 and $103 mounting and balance from Firestone.Prices have really increased. Are they still making them in Viet Nam? Hope not.

watch tire temps close - I almost made it 5 years before one went ... got lucky, just hade to change lower trim panel behind tire and replace insulation above tire - is it really worth pushing your luck and messing with your schedule? I was also lucky it was NOT in the city, at night, raining, against a guard rail or ... Food for Thought

I also have a monitor on the spare so I know it has pressure and ready to go

We've had two blow-outs in 100K miles, first GY G114 at 4 1/2 years old, number two a Sailun 637 H 17.5" at 4 years, both were running same temp and pressure as the other three tires. No indication except when they went BOOM.
