Tire Monitors

I am towing the 5th wheel on Marathons, and, as stated in previous posts, new tires aren't in the budget right now. But, for the price of 1 G614, I can get a tire pressure monitoring system, which seems like a good alternative at this point. I can imagine the peace of mind that comes with a setup like this. At least if something should happen, I'll know immediately. I'm wondering if there is a particular unit that is a favorite here. I watched the TPS video on CW and read what I could about the others, but what kind of experience do you all have with these systems?

TST system here with user replaceable batteries. Very satisfied with product and even more satisfied with support and customer service. I emailed requesting o-rings and they sent a large supply free of charge. They have a newer model out that allows for the tire to be aired without removing the monitor, but I have no experience with those. The bad thing about the Marathons (and Missions, and others), is that most failures are catastrophic and sudden, (based on this forum and others), not a slow leak, therefore the tire monitor will tell you it is flat, but probably too late. Anything is better than nothing however.

Several years ago, I had a blowout on a Mission tire with my Cougar TT. I didn't know about it for miles and miles 'til another motorist pulled up beside and told me. By then the damage was done. I was practically on the rim. There was damage to the trailer, mostly underneath. It was an ugly situation all around. Perhaps rising temps in the tire (which these systems monitor also) will provide a clue to something before it's too late. I realize these particular tires tend to just "let go", but at least I'll know if/when it happens with one of these systems.

I installed a TST 507RV system just before we left on a 2,000 mile trip last month. Really liked having it. Comforting to be able to see the pressures and temps of each tire as you travel.
Mine also has user replaceable batteries.

We have TST and like it. Before we had it, had a blowout and didn't know about. After installing TST, we had a blowout and was given about 10 seconds before the tire exploded, due to heat. At least the second time we knew we had a blowout and didn't just keep driving down the road.

TST here also and really like it. Just upgraded to the replacable batteries and the sensors enable you to air the tire through the sensor. I like the display also, compact and easy to read.

TST with replaceable batteries. We were instantly notified of a blow out and were able to slowly get off the road with no trailer damamge. make sure you yuupdgrade your valve stems to metal when adding the transmitters. It does add peac of mind along with visual inspections at every stop.

Another TST user here. And yes, be sure to get the newer user-replaceable battery version with the flow-through sensor meaning you don't have to take the sensor off to check/inflate the tires.

We changed to TST because they had sensors that you could adjust the air without taking them off the stems. System has worked well for us.

TST here also. I did like you and asked avout the diferent monitors and TST came up more than any other, so it was TST for me also.

TST 507 here. Replaceable batteries but not the flow-thru version.

Love that it cycles through the sensors automatically unlike other makes.
