We must replace the sofa in our 2015 3160RL. The pleather is cracking badly. (This seems to be a regular occurrence after 5+years.) Any current experience with Thomas Payne (Lippert) sofas?

Any other brand suggestions?

Thanks for any thoughts.

One of ours was looking pretty bad. This last March we recovered it with that leather cover stuff that's self sticking on one side.

The "before" couch was flaking so bad it looked like black snow was brushing off the surface. After applying this stuff, no more flaking and the couch still has many more years of use.

The second photo was taken today, after every day use since March (so far).

Thanks for the response. Ours has similar cushion issues, plus the seam lines on the back cushions are splitting as well. It is just time to replace the whole unit, I'm thinking.

Looking for replacement couch sleeper?
I found these links on the IRV2 forum…
Of course one poster advised “Don’t buy RV Furniture - go to a furniture store!”

All of the OEM “pleather” furniture will eventually start flaking. Its very poor quality and It’s an industry wide problem, and has been for years. If the furniture is still functional, and you would like to keep it, your only option is to pick some slip covers you like. There are some real nice covers out there and I almost went that way with the theater seating but found some real leather seating that had nice features and were very reasonably priced with great warranty. Re-covering is probably not financially viable. I checked around and it was way not worth it. I went through this with our theater seats, and now our fold out couch. I replaced the theater chairs with electric reclining real leather seating with much better features . About $200.00+ or - more than replacing with like OEM seating that would just start flaking again as soon as the warranty expires. The difference in quality is huge. I will be selling my rig soon so not sure what we will do about the couch. If you have fabric instead of “pleather”, your furniture is probably just fine. If you want leather, get real leather, which will be more expensive but will last, probably as long as you have your RV with proper care. I have spent a lot of time researching this and came to the conclusion that it’s slip covers if you want to keep the furniture, buy REAL leather if you want leather, or go with fabric covered furniture. Hope this helps.

Happens with most Thomas Payne furniture. We have a 2024 HC 331RL, no kids or pets and are both over 65 and are having to replace ours already. We will be getting real furniture with cloth coverings.

Try theaterseatstore.com. That’s where we found ours. There are several options on line to shop.

Check out slip covers unless you have just decided you want to replace. We wanted real leather for our theater seating but will probably go with slip covers for the couch/hida bed in the bunk room. Don’t use it much so it’s a more economical fix for us. Couch still functional and comfortable, just started flaking. If it was starting to fall apart we would replace. Thought it might be something to consider.

When this happened to the entertainment seats and sleeper sofa in our 2016 3160 RL Legacy, we switched to RecPro furniture. It has been 3 years and we are very happy with the units we purchased from them.

We have replaced some of our furniture with furniture made for the home market. You could have some weight issues, so compare weights.

We have a 2021 High Country and the furniture pleather is giving up. We did some research and replacing was pretty costly. We decided to recover the furniture at approximately the same cost. Sizes to fit the area in the RV was a problem with going the residential furniture. We like the usefulness of the RV furniture so we decided to recover.
