Hi all,

Well, great news! We got our 5er and took her out for an overnight to see how liveable it is in a cooler, rainy overnight in Maine. It turned out great.

We did notice however, we have a broken window so, I'm hoping we can get a replacement. Does anyone have a source for obtaining these? The glass measures 46"x 10", and the frame is 49" x 13" with rounded corners.

The 5er is a 2000 Montana 3280RL

Ralph

Many recommend taking it to a local glass company. Not sure how you get the frame out tho. Someone else will probably have more info here.

Take the frame out and take it to a local glass shop.
Here is a video to show the basics for window frame removal.

Very interesting video; I learned quite a bit about these double-pane windows. My issue involves a single pane. Nevertheless, I can use this information on future renos.

You could also check on Trekwood.com they have windows, I broke one a couple years ago, of course they had all but what i needed. I could mine by searching internet, dealer in WA state had one.

I'm looking this up and it seems that they go back only to 2004. However, this window may be the same. I am going to look into the glass replacement after I pull the frame. I'll post the results as soon as I determine where to get this done.

What is wrong with yours? I can’t tell by the picture. Have you talked to a glass company yet. Before yanking it out, you should talk to someone. Leave everything in tact and have them do the measuring. That way if it comes out wrong, you have them to blame

Hello Rene T,

here is a better image of the broken glass. The Crack measures slightly more than 6 inches.

What's funny is that small crack is letting in quite a bit of rain in. Nevertheless, I believe I should have little trouble pulling this frame out, then bringing it to a glass company here in Bangor, ME.

I would put a piece of duct tape over the crack then show the pictures to a glass company. Chances are that crack will grow when you pull it out and probably totally break away completely. Then what do you do if no one wants to touch it

Ohhhhh, That is something I hadn't thought of, wow! Thanks for briniging that up. I shall do exactly that. :)

On another not, I just got word I may be going back to sea for a few weeks on a temporary job so, this might be put on "hold" until I get back. I will post a follow-up.

Hey, thanks again for taking time in helping me with this.

I measured the length and width and then drew the curve edges on cardboard and took it to glass company. Take a piece of the old glass so they can match the tint.

Hello Jetson,
All work has stopped as I have left for 2 or 3 weeks at work down in the Gulf of America. I'll get back to it around Thanksgiving.
