Splendide washer drain hose too short?

I had some issues with my Splendide washer recently. Had to remove it from the cabinet to fix it. The dealer had installed the thing in such a manor that it seemingly was NEVER intended to be removed…it was a witch to get out. I am trying to reinstall everything to make it easy to remove next time something needs attention. The bottom wood panel/cabinet face will be removable using some hardware from my junk pile, and the three hoses will be long enough to pull the unit out. The water supply hoses and power cord have plenty of slack already. My washer and dryer are in a cabinet in the living room (not stacked)…washer on the floor and dryer on a shelf above the washer.

My main issue is that the drain hose is too short for me to pull the thing completely out. I managed to reach back there with one hand and unscrew the pipe worm gear clamps to disconnect/separate the drain hose to remove the unit. I had pulled the washer forward just enough to reach the clamps, and when the hose let go - it snapped back like a rubber band…so I had the unit out “too far” already for the short OEM hose… now i cant reach back in there with two hands to reconnect the drain hose. The drain hose inlet and water connections are above the shelf up behind the dryer…i would have to remove the dryer off the shelf to remove the hose, and i dont want to attempt that by myself. Of course I wonder why Keystone located the washer connections so high on the wall and behind the dryer. If I ever have to disconnect the supply lines I will have to remove the dryer from the cabinet anyway, and I would prefer to cross that bridge at a later date.

I plan to call Splendide on Monday to see if they offer extension hoses. A (say) 36” extension with male and female ends would allow me to make the connections and shove the washer back in place. The hose is attached to barb fittings, then tightly wrapped with black (electrical?) tape before the worm gear clamps are installed. I have searched amazon and went to home depot looking for fittings and flexible hoses - but all i found was washer drain hoses for a household washer. They wont work for a splendide smaller drain hose.

Anybody out there have ideas or recommendations? Have you experienced the same issues while pulling your washer out of a cabinet? In the pic below you can see the hose dangling against the back wall and the pigtail attached to the washer.

Hey Mike

Can you get a short piece of copper tubing(that will fit inside the hose) and a couple of clamps and hose from Home Depot or Lowe’s to extend washer hose?

I know what you are going thru with washer. I just reinstalled my stackable washer & dryer this weekend after doing a dryer repair.

When I first installed them…….i put a door in that you can open. (Cannot remember what it’s called) wish I had went bigger. ( can get 1 arm, head and part of my shoulder in it)
And it is a PITA to remove or install either machine.

Hope you get it figured out.

Also remember to NOT put too much drain hose in drain on RV.

Drain hose extension is a no-go. I emailed Splendide service about the hose extension and got this response…

Extending the drain hose can cause a back siphon. Which would give either f8e1 or f9e1 errors. I can ask another tech here if he knows of any other solution.

Also, they tell me that the OEM hose was a 6’ long single piece hose - not split like mine to form a joint. He said they have never seen a joint in the drain hose. He said the installer must have done that to the hose for whatever reason. A new hose is $65 from Westland Sales (Splendide). If my hose leaks i will order a new one.

At this point I have no choice but to remove the dryer, reattach the hose joint, put the washer back in place, then put the dryer back in. I have not looked at the dryer install yet, but i am concerned that the dryer exhaust duct is going to be a be-itch also. Can you offer tips and advice?

Mike any way to install one of these to be able to get behind washer & dryer?

Mine is horrible because there is NO room.

I have a removable access panel on the wall behind the washer. It is visible behind the water hoses in the pic below (4 screws holding it on) - but it would not help the drain hose issue. I assume the invert/top of the drain pipe that keystone installed has some science to it, and a lower point to insert the drain pipe might cause leaking…???…just a guess. Im not a real plumber - just act like one when forced to do so.

I got the dryer out…the exhaust duct pulled off the nipple…got the drain pipe put back together the way it was - and decided to quit for the day. Its hot out there. I will get back at it tomorrow. Hope i can get the exhaust duct reattached by pretending to be a limber contortionists.

Pic looks familiar……… I have to put my dryer on top of washer and secure it and then try to slide in opening and put drain hose in drain and the real fun part is trying to get dryer vent hose on.
As you can see from my pics……..there is not much room.

I feel your pain. Hang in there you will get it.
