Members report that uneven inside tire wear on a Montana 5th Wheel is often linked to suspension misalignment, worn leaf springs, or bent axles rather than issues the MORyde X-Factor brackets alone can solve. The X-Factor brackets are praised for strengthening shackle connections and preventing frame damage during sharp turns, but several experienced RVers stress these are preventative upgrades and won’t correct existing alignment or axle problems causing tire wear. Before installing the... More...

We have a 2019 3121 Anniversary Edition Montana 5th Wheel. We traveling approximately 4,000 miles last fall and upon return notice there was uneven wear on the new tires installed prior to the trip on the inside.

We were going to install the MORyde X-Factor spring shackle brackets and upon inspection noticed the propane line runs the length of the trailer and may be in the way of installation.

Two questions - 1) in your experience will this fix the issue or should we look at something else? 2) did anyone find the propane line would not allow the brackets to be installed?

Thank you for sharing your expertise and guidance.

The x-factors tie the spring shackles together side to side to strengthen and prevent the shackles from breaking welds or bending when we turn the trailers at steep angles on hard surfaces like concrete or pavement. They also help tie the frame rails together which helps to prevent the factory frame tie welds above the coroplast from breaking loose under the stress of turning. If your suspension has come out of alignment or your axles have lost the correct camber causing your tires wear, that will need to be corrected first.
The older version of the X-factors that I put on our Montana would clear the propane line. I imagine the new version will also, but check with MORryde.
The first picture below is what happened to one of my hangers before I put the x-factors on. The second picture shows the propane line over the top of the x-factor above the equalizer, and the drop x-factor on the front set of hangers to clear the galley gray drain pipe.

Check you leaf springs. They may be worn out and flattened. Sometimes you'll see more flattened springs on one side than the other depending on weight distribution or heavy slides. This will affect your toe setting and cause tire wear you describe. It's not always camber being out of whack. While you're down there, pull the underbelly and check for broken welds on the cross members.

I just installed 3 X Factor brackets on my 2020 Montana with a gas line that runs the entire length. The brackets cleared the line with about a half inch to spare. Also as previously stated, the issues causing uneven tire wear will need to be addressed prior to installation, these are preventative maintenance only.

I had the same issue. My rear axle was bent plus the brass sleeves were worn. Went from 7k to 8K axles. New springs, brass bushings/hardware, cre3000 linkage and reinforced the hangers.
