So how do I fix this? (afraid I already know)

So, Momma and I just returned from a 2,500 mile trip down south and back and I was doing the post trip wash and roof cleaning and I discovered this. There are three spots where it appears the decking fasteners are backing out and stressing the roof membrane. The only fix I see is to put a small slit in the membrane (shedding tears all the while), replacing the fastener, then patching with lap sealant. Anyone have better solution? (Please) Also, is this a normal thing? We've been draggin wagons for almost 25 years and I have not come across this in any of our other rigs.

That is exactly what I did. Cut a slit, pulled the staple. Inserted a counter sunk screw. Injected Dicor in the slit. Pressed it down. Put a 4" x 4" piece of Eternabond over it.

Looks like the route I will be taking, Thank you.

Not an uncommon problem and Daryles' solution is what most have done. A Search for "roof staple" or 'flashing" will uncover a number of Threads about this issue.

I searched for screw and had no luck, didn't realize it was a staple. Appears as though my initial thoughts on the repair process were correct as Daryles confirmed. I sincerely appreciate the help. I am currently researching Flexarmor....

Not sure where you're located, but they have a location very near my S&B in Green Cove Springs, FL. If/When I have to replace my roof, I plan to go that route. It seems to be a solid solution.

I am in Southwest Michigan; there is a place in Grand Rapids an hour and a half north of me. He sent me a quote yesterday and that is the route I am going to take. The more research I do the more I like this option.

Did you do it yourself, or is it a service that applied the coating?
Very interested in cost compared to the RV Roof Armor.

I agree completely. I look forward to hearing about your experience with Flex Armor. I have on my plans to do in the near future.
I will let you know. We pulled the trigger yesterday and our rig goes in the 5th of January. I have done a ton of research in the last week, and Momma and I think this is a sound investment. It will be done in time for our mid January trip to Florida so we are thrilled.

Did you do repair first? Having them do the repair? Or just covering it?

It's about to turn nasty here in Michigan so I winterized her and put her in my shop. When they do the roof, they strip back around all the edges and penetrations. (I am actually paying an additional $350 or so to have the entire roof stripped, sanded, and sealed as needed before the application). When they strip the edges, they pull all the staples and replace them with stainless steel screws. As it will be stored indoors and my appointment is the first week of January, I am not going to mess with it as we do not leave for Florida until the second week of January.

We have several staples sticking up as well. I will follow this procedure when I do the repairs, seems to be best I've seen so far! Initially I was planning on only using eternabond tape.
