Slide Out Motors

HELLO, I heard that the Montana slide out motors don't last. I wonder if anyone has had this problem with the motors going bad on the slides?

Both on or bed went after a year and 3 months old.
The repair guy put new upgraded motors in that should last longer.

Both sides of my bed Bal exact slide failed shortly after the warranty elapsed. I Told the service guy’s multiple times I didn’t like the sound they were making from the moment I got the rig and got nowhere. Worked with an independent service tech and Bal to replace both motors and to fine tune things and they pur like kittens now. Along with chain alignment issues if the cables aren’t tuned right the motor gear shafts will bend and gears dig into the housings making all kinds of racket eventually failing.

I'm suffering the rear bedroom slide motor/gear issue right now. It's the BAL system and apparently they have upgraded the motor/gear assemblies so the new ones should do better.

Yes, I know BAL has new motors (they have new controllers too) but it is not the BAL system itself, it’s the tuning of the cables/chain mechanism. More often than not they’re not set up right from keystone and they fail. Then, a lot of service techs don’t know how to set them up right either, wing it and they fail. If you know how to do it they’re fairly easy to tune and they’re trouble free.

Tuning on these new dual motor BAL systems is automatic. Each cable and motor sync when you full extend or fully retract the slide and hold the command after the slide reached it's position for more than 5 seconds.
