Members discuss the raised floor of the side slide-outs in the 3791RD, which are about 2 inches higher than the main floor due to the slide box construction. The original poster is considering removing a couch to install a desk but is concerned about the height difference and structural implications. Experienced RVers confirm the raised floor and share that the aluminum framing is typically 1x1, with a 2-inch offset being common for living room slides.

One member who completed a... Question: The two 'side' couches in the coach are on slides that are not level with the main floor. Looking at the possibility of removing one and putting a desk in place of the couch - but until yesterday, was unaware of the fact that the floor of the slide is raised.

Unit is at dealership at the moment - going through Delivery Prep - so I can't get into it to measure.

Any help from the community?

Thanks, Ric

This section might not be exact for your model, but I think you can use 2" as the thickness of the slide box floor above the main rig floor for your living room slides. The aluminum tube framing is 1x1.

We did that same project. Here's a link to the video we made. I don't recall if the exact measurements are included in the video. One area of possible concern, the sleeper sofa provides some support to the bottom of the slide when the slide is closed. My solution is in the video and so far we've not had any issues.

This is awesome - thank you so very much!

Clark, a follow-up question. The last comment in the video was the addition of a power strip in the slide. Where did you plug that in at? Did you put 110v in the slide?

No, I didn't try to run 120v AC to the slide. In our 3791 there are 120v outlets on either side of the cabinet space and TV in the back of the trailer. We got a power strip with a longer pigtail and attached it vertically to the back leg of the table closest to the back of the trailer. We just plug and unplug as needed.
