Sewer Boom

I finally removed it from our 2013 3402.We have been using it for over a year and as I posted before it is one of those things that you have got to make work. We have used it in scores of Campgrounds and it always worked for us. Now that I have used it for one year I know that it will work and also that it is easier to not have it

There were many complaints about the boom and I think Keystone stopped it on the Montana.

Yup, we used it for about a year and a half and it was ok. Took it off, added a knife valve and a clear 90 with a cap for traveling and it's much better. Folks on here convinced me to try it and it is a large improvement. Especially having no more surprises when you take the cap off to hook up.

We just decided on our last trip to remove ours also. Now to figure out where the best place to put the Sewer Storage door.

We never had the boom and are quite happy with what we have. That said can we fault Keystone for trying new things?

I don't have a boom, but a nice storage compartment where the pull handles are

Used mine 1 time and didn't like. Replaced it with a longer tube and use it to store an extra slinky. Like having extra valve with clear fitting much better. No surprises!

I have learned to like it especially when I am close to the sewer hole it looks nice and neat I never did like the look of the sewer hose on my other Monty laying out there the more I can hide it the better ,other Rv'rs always tell me what a nice idea it is Overall Thumbs up

Mine is still on the RV but I am going to remove it as it is hinged in the wrong spot on thr frame and will only go towards the front of the RV and swing only as far as straight out to the side. It will not go to the rear at all. I also like the clear elbo with the hose fitting on it. Much easyer to see what is coming out of the tanks and when they are empty.

Most RV parks have the sewer hookup toward the rear of the RV, seldom if ever have I found it to the front. I understand the idea for this wonder gadget was suggested by owners of Montana's, had it been designed and installed by anyone that would ever use it, the swivel point would have been directly opposite the outlet, thus allowing for a rearward turn. Mine came off after the first trip, I would part with it for free if you wear yours out BigSkyJimmy....LOL

I think it must be a matter of how it's used. We haven't camped with full hook up so far. So for just dumping, I think it works well for that, just as jimmy stated. At he Rally however, I have been thinking about what my solution will be. I'm leaning toward temporarily disconnecting at the PVC and using a hose(s) from there back.

I took it off primarily for the reason stated by DQDick and Irlguy also that many sewer hooks are far in the rear. The boom swings back that far but must be bungeed to remain back. In a couple of cases the boom was actually to long. I gave it gave it a try and it worked .. but not that great.

The final nail in the booms coffin came on the interstate in Illinois when a car flagged me down. Boom had cracked allowing the cap to come off and the stinky slinky to pop out and drag down the road. Camping World had replacement tubes I could have used, but when I was in there pricing them I just said screw it and bought the valve, 90 and cap and changed direction. I already had the fence post hose storage under the rig to carry enough hose for Goshen so I didn't need to do anything except drop the boom.

I really like the boom. I installed a longer tube so that it would hold the full length of my Rhino hose. It piviots both directions. So quick and easy to connect, and it looks good too. I found that leaving the tank valve open for several minutes after the the the tank seems empty helps to minimize the extra fluid retained in the hose. Besides, it's just a little bath water, not the nasty stuff, right?

Got ours to work and have used it on four trips so far. All it really took was getting one of those two 10' section Camco hoses and grinding off some plastic tabs so the ends would fit into the pipe. Last trip was three weeks and five or six stops, some with full and some without. While it does help giving a nice slope to the hose, it can be a real pain to use when very close (like at a dump station). The down side is it's a serious pain to dump using my mascerator & hose at home. Got to take it off, take off the short hose, hook up the mascerator, dump and then reverse it all. I've pretty much made up my mind to take it off this fall.

Oh, and I just use a big plastic bucket for the other hose piece - that way any remaining anything stays in the bucket. Guess I'll have to use two after taking the boom off.

As I have posted before, I am a fan of the sewer boom. A 10' Rhino hose, the twist-on gate valve, and a clear connector make for a nice package. Unlatch, swing (mine rotates 90 degrees - yes it needs bungy to hold it to the back) and connect. Easy peasy, neat, quick, and no fuss. In two years I have not found anyplace where it didn't work.

It worked everywhere for us also. I just got tired of messing with it. It came off easy and is in the barn who knows might put it back on some day.

Took my boom off after only using it a couple times. Too messy and it leaked. Put on a twist off gate valve. Replaced tube with a 4' one from Camping World to store hose. This set up has worked great for the past two years. My opinion is the sewer boom was an answer to a non problem!
