Sailun tire failure

Winner winner chicken dinner !

FINALLY a long process but I received a check from Sailun Tire Americas Inc. today for the cost of the tires plus repair cost to my rig. Since they are based in Canada it took a while to get payment almost a month.

Happy this is over. Please report the failures and again if anyone needs help I can point you in the right direction to hopefully get compensated.

That's great news, Tony. I just got my rear axle replaced as Lippert welded the hangers in the wrong location and had to have them cut off and re-welded. I'll be keeping a close eye on these Vietnam Sailuns when I get my rig back.

About 2 years ago I installed TransEagle ST235/85R16 all steel G rated made in China. Were less $ than Sailun. So far they have performed without issues. Keeping my fingers crossed. Online reviews are good. Walmart and Amazon sell them. They also make 15 inch all steel trailer tires.

Miracles do happen...........that's great news.

Yes. Please see photos taken at rural tire shop.

New Synergy G rated tire put on this morning for replacement and spare tire. Not ideal but will hopefully get through this trip.
I had (2) Saliuns look like the above. I got the independent suspension allighment done. Bought new Saliuns. So far they’re wearing real good. 4,900 miles.

Thanks for starting this thread
As of today we have the Continental J rated tires in our Rig.

It cost some coin, but I can now be as Confident in the integrity of these tires the way I was with the
sailuns before you helped make everyone aware of this issue

Thanks again

New NHTSA Tire Recall

NHTSA Recall ID Number : 21T018
Synopsis : Sailun Tire Americas, Inc. (Sailun) is recalling certain Sailun, RoadX, Blacklion, Blackhawk, and Ironhead brand tires, sizes ST235/80R16 and ST235/85R16 with DOT codes 2020 through 4120. Due to a manufacturing issue, the tires may experience a belt separation. Belt separation could lead to loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. Sailun will replace the tires, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed in December 2021. Owners may contact Sailun customer service at 1-844-281-9696.

Glad they finally came forward and admitted the issue, and are making the proper steps to correct this problem. I will return and get new tires for when at some point I sell the rig. for now im happy with boar tire and wheels....

If you have these tires and suffered damage you can get reimbursed for that too. Maybe now the process will not be as long as mine was.

Tony

Based on those date codes, I may be out of the recall. Mine are 5120 Made in Vietnam. Maybe dodged another bullet.
