My Sailuns were that worn after 15000 miles. They now have 19000 miles and are dated out (2016). If yours wore at the outer edges like that in only 2000 miles especially on the one side I don't think it's the tire but alignment or tire pressure.

I have followed discussions for years about Goodyear and Sailun Tires. Always trying to learn and improve my next tire purchase, which is in the Spring. But I am stubborn on my Maxxis tires. Been using the brand for 15 years without a problem. Being made in Thailand, not too bad. They use to be the going vibe on all forums. Am I missing something, or why are they not mentioned much?

James, My Montana 3402rl came with E rated Maxxis and after our first 2000 mile trip all four tires on the ground had separating plies. I replaced them with Sailuns. Maxxis may hold up fine on the High Country but I don't think any E rated will on a Montana.
Few things, first does anyone know the stud size on my 2018 3920…? Ordering boar wheels and 19.5 commercial tires (5) but need the stud size. Currently my unit is getting a rhino roof and won’t be back for about 2 weeks.
Lastly, the failure rate is increasing. On here but especially on the FB page, and that’s just those of us that post about it. I did get an update on my 2 that blew. 1 made it to Canada and the other is in transit, by now I would hope the second tire has arrived too. When I asked about reimbursement for the tires and even reimbursement for the damage (which I already fixed) they stated it depended on the outcome. My question was these have a seven year warranty what’s the hold up on the reimbursement for the new tires. I got the run around. Also asked about who is inspecting the tires to make the determination of failure. Would it be you or an independent company…. At that point that was the last I heard from them…..
Everyone with a failure contact nhtsa and file a complaint. I’m spending 3300.00 for new wheels and tires in the hope I never need to do this crap again….. sailun made in China good. Sailun made in Vietnam crap !!

I asked them if they knew about the problems with recent Vietnam produced tires and what options do I have to ensure that I will not have similar issues? I also asked if they can still source 637 trailer series tires that were made in China? (see their response below).
Sadly, I finally convinced my brother to buy Sailuns and his are made in Vietnam with similar date codes to those reported to have failed. I've had great luck with my 2 year old chinese made Sailuns, but will likely not replace them in the future with Sailuns made in Vietnam.

As previously indicated, we reached out to Sailun with your inquiry. Sailun has indicated that all their specialty trailer tires are fully tested to conform to the U.S. DOT requirements. Uniformity, x-ray, shearography, physical and visual inspections are all part of the quality process at all factories to ensure a quality product is released to the customers.
Should a customer encounter any tire failure with any of the Sailun products, it is always recommended that a full inspection is conducted by a qualified technician, at the place of purchase (if possible), to ensure no damage occurred to the remaining tires before the disabled tire was replaced.
Sailun offers one of the leading Manufacturer’s Warranties in the industry. If a tire that fails due to a defect in workmanship and/or materials within the first 50% of the tread of the tire, will be replaced at no cost; after the first 50% of the tread of the tire, a pro-rated adjustment will be offered. This warranty is for eight (
years from the date of purchase or down to 2/32nds of tread remaining, whichever happens first. Sailun also offers support in the event that the equipment experiences damage due to Sailun tires.

So as most of you know both my tires failed within 3 months. I have gone through the process of filing a complaint with the nthsa and just updated them a few days ago with receipts and pictures.
My 2 failed tires were both sent to Canada to be evaluated by their engineers "Dynamic Tire". I just received an email with an attachment of full and final release. I have not signed it yet because I wanted to post first. Without acknowledging fault the agreement was made and I will be compensated for the repairs and tires.
Those that have failed tires on new purchases don't give up I can send you numbers to call to get the process started to get fair treatment hopefully. This took months to get to this point!!
Now I will sign and return their agreement....

Your feedback was good to have. Its a shame the evaluation did not provide the cause of the failure. There are a lot of tires out there with relatively few failures but the trend is worth watching.

IMO Sailuns are the tire to have . It would be interesting to see how they are doing in a few years , if this trend continues. I have a set on now that are about 18 months old , made in China .
At this point a decision will have to be made about me getting another set when the time comes . Definitely not made in Vietnam . Did you even consider going H rated in the 17.5 Saliun ?

I have 5 Sailuns made in Vietnam this year. So far, 2500 miles. Fingers crossed �� they hold up.
Does anyone also follow the FB Montana page? I'm currently banned for a few more days from FB but thats a different story LOL. but there have been more Sailun tire failures. Also some on Vanleigh FB page. be very careful and mindful of the Vietnam versions.... not seeing good things....

Wonder if you`ll even be able to find a Sailun not made in Vietnam by then. That was a stinKing **** hoLe and this just another example of why. Maybe I should locate a China set and sit on them till needed.
