Has anyone tried the Ryobi generators yet? Looking at the 2200 model with a price at $549 at Home Depot. I've had good luck with Ryobi in the past but am curious if anyone has used them and how did they perform.
Thx!:)

Not familiar with them, but you'll want to make sure the decibel levels work for camping. Many Federal areas and others have noise restrictions and construction generators are too loud.

That's one of the things I am curious about. The literature rates them at 58db and the reviews on other forum's say they are "as quiet" as a honda. Famous last words.

I'd be finding myself someone that already has one and see if you can hear it when it is running both at idle and also with a load on it. That is the true test on the sound and the dbs!

I have not heard of them, but apparently they have been around for a while. Saw a Utube video from 2011 where someone was comparing one to a Honda EU2000, both connected to a heater for a load. The Ryobi was louder, but did not appear appreciably so. But a little difficult to truly tell the sound level from the video.
One thing on the video I noticed was the Ryobi slowly ramped up when the heater was connected, the Honda almost immediately ramped up.
Quite a bit of hits pop up on google.

The Homedepot website list noise at 63db, that's quite a difference from 58. The distance at which the reading is taken also makes a big difference

Also make sure it's a pure sine wave generator otherwise you may have issues with your sensitive electronics.

I was in Kenai Alaska and the person next to me was running one. Very quiet. Much quieter than my Yamaha 2000.

Thanks for the inputs. Can't find where I saw the 58db level. Must be voices in the head (again). I haven't found anyone local with them so I think I'll hedge my bet with Honda. More expensive but you get what you pay for!

That's been my experience with mine, but new things come along daily. You'll be happy with Honda.
