Has anyone made a homemade RV slide slicker for their slide outs to protect the flooring? If so what did you use and how did you do it?

Slide slickers.

Make your own Slide Slickers. Home depot, Lowe's, Menards. $2 each.

Cut it in half, cut off the curved part. Now you have two 4"x24".
Put them under your bed rollers to prevent dent in the floor and/or
Place them at each end and in the middle of your living room/dining room slide on the floor.
Even if you do not now have issues with this I strongly recommend using these on any slides to prevent it from happening to you. It's just a matter of time. One staple, nail or piece of grit and it will damage your floor.
Always sweep or vacuum your floor before retracting the slide.

You can see in the picture where the slide was rubbing the floor.

100% agree with Daryles. We had a small pebble under there that drug across the floor and created a lot of damage. These are cheap insurance.

Daryles :what an excellent, low cost and effective solution for many RV owners... I assume this would also work equally as well for hydraulic slides that dont use rollers...

The hydraulic slides of course usually move across a wear bar during motion but these strips would still be effective to prevent damage to interior vinyl flooring when the hydraulic slide is being extended or retracted...

great idea

Chuck,
Yes our slides are are hydraulic. I'll be doing your Darco fix on the bottom in the near future.

I recommend you read the negative reviews first. If you have carpet in and in front of the slide, these are NOT for you. The slide outs are supposed to “float” over the floor, except the rollers if you have them, and why you are NOT supposed to be sitting in or using a slide that has been retracted. Check the flex in the middle of the slide floor. There is not enough support to hold much weight when retracted. This is especially true for large slides. For bare floors, they might work but folks with bare floors have had issues also. So to me it looks like a crap shoot. I would try the least expensive method first. The Lippert brand are near $75 from Amazon and folks have had issues trying to return them. Amazon has a warning that they are a frequently returned item. Buyer beware.

Wow, what a cost effective way to save your flooring! I went to Home Depot and purchased two 48" vinyl pieces, cut them in half and put some non-skid adhesive tape on the underside to hold them in place. Works great and when you open the slide just pick them up and put them under the flap until you put your slide back in!!! Thanks for sharing your simple fix!!!!!!!!!

Mike,
yes our dining room slide does have carpet. We put our homemade slide slickers under the carpet before bringing in the slides.
I believe I have read somewhere (owners manual??)
"DO NOT STEP ON THE SLIDE WHEN RETRACTED".
The floor is VERY thin.
