Replace Halogen Lights in Rear Shelf??

I'm placing what I hope is my final order for LED lights. I missed a few when I did my first count this time I'd like to include the Halogen lights that are in the back of the Montana. I'll do my best to describe, they are above the picture window in that drop down ceiling above the glass cupboards. The little puck looking things. I can't get the buggers out for fear of trashing the wood. It looks like a couple spring clips hold the whole unit in place.

Anybody know of a trick and better yet the model of bulb that's in there? DW loves to turn those lights on but I hate halogen due to the heat not to mention the draw.

Dave, If the lights are the recessed type the glass (puck) will twist off and the fixture stays in the ceiling. You may have to pull the fixture down just a little so you can hold the fixture while you twist the glass. Hope this helps.

X2, that's how ours come apart. We have two sizes, the larger approx 4 to 4 1/2 inch dia in the ceiling and the smaller approx 2 1/2 inch dia on the bottom of the drop down storage areas. Mike and Kat sell two sizes of LEDs to fit these fixtures.

Well light fixture one, Dave none. I think they had king kong twist the glass on. I'll give it another go tonight when I get home. Didn't have a lot of time this AM before I ran out the door.

The two Halogen fixtures in the rear are made by ITT Holland. They are held in with spring wires that grip the wood. The safe way to remove the glass lens is to pull down on the glass to pull it slightly out of the wood and then twist left on the lens while holding onto the body of the fixture. The fixture uses a 10w halogen bulb. John

Light fixture two, dave still none. I finally got the glass turning but now it just turns and turns. Who knows. I'll probably pull it out of the shelf and hit it with a hammer, jk. I'm thinking that somebody stripped something when they put the glass onto the fixture. I'll get it off but it shouldn't require this much thinking or effort.

Dave, one of my fixtures won't pull out of the wood very far...but I can put a finger on the side of the fixture to stop it from turning and then and I can twist the glass lens cover left (counter-clockwise) less than a third of a turn and the cover comes off to reveal the inside reflector and bulb. Glass lens cover should not be able to turn in a complete circle unless the whole fixxture is turning in a complete circle and twisting the wiring. Sounds like you need to pull the fixture out of the wood a little bit so you can stop the fixture from turning which will allow the lens to twist off. Of course, you could have the bad fixture that shouldn't have been installed in the first place...hope not. John

Thanks JCurtis934, fixture isn't turning but class is going full circle. I'll need to spend a little time and wiggle the whole unit out and toy with it.

The silly glass cover pulls off and the fixture says G4 bulb.

So for the next person spending far to long trying to get to the bulb. Just pull the glass off!!

Oh, so we obviously have another vendor used by Keystone for these lights...lovely. Have never seen one with a pull-off lens. Just to make things interesting for the members... John
