I purchased a new 2024 Keystone Montana HC-this is my first 5th wheel. I'm having the dealer fix a few things i found wrong or missing during the walk thru. They are waiting for parts. I asked them when it is finished i'd like to go thru it again and they said you had your FREE walk thru already implying they would charge me for another. they were not receptive at all of me doing another walk thru before it left the shop. Is this the norm? Thanks--like i said brand new at this.

Rimmer - that does not seem right to me, assuming your intention for the 2nd walk-thru is to inspect the work that they performed…maybe 10-15 minutes to “show and chat”. I would not expect another 1-2 hour walk-thru and full demonstration.

I would not hesitate to ask questions about a system or two that you may not have fully grasped during your initial walk. Make sure they understand your intentions/expectations and this should not be an issue in my opinion.

Who is the dealer?

Congratulations and welcome.

If it's Camping World, their service is notoriously well known.
Many dealerships become uncooperative after you have signed on the dotted line.
Ask them,
"Why, are you afraid I might find a problem with your workmanship?".

There is a Pre Delivery Inspection checklist in the files section. Hope it is helpful.

Purchaed our RV from Camping World Lakewood NJ

It was the worst buying experience I have ever had.

The idiot that did the walk through knew NOTHING!

He tried to demo the TV while using the RV antenna.

Nothing, then he put the remote in his pocket and we took delivery,
leaving for Florida within two days.
I called about the remote and they said they would order one.

My reply was you have about 10 of these on your lot and take a remote out of one of them.

That is only the beginning, for a small punch list they had the RV for 4 months and that wound up costing the Service Advisor his job.

He had one problem, he did not know how to use a telephone. Wouldn't answer it, never returned one phone call.

Finally went there and showed on my phone how many times I called it was over 25 times. He said he would take care of it.

Next day I received a phone call from the new service advisor.

STAY AWAY

Also the day I purchased it they raised their labor rate from $125 an hour to $200 an hour.

After 4 months I fixed everything myself. The tech did leave a nice $150 sunglasses under the bed that he was supposed to fix.

Happy Holidays!

Welcome to the MOC. What model did you get? Did you get the extended warranty? Like anything, you have a one year warranty. They can't deny you inspecting your rig and submitting repair requests. They can't charge you to do a walk through inspection. If they didn't fix the items you discovered or if you find other items that need repaired, you can refuse to take delivery or schedule another appointment. My best advice to you is to build a relationship with the Service and Sales manager. You're going to be seeing them a lot your first year.

yes i got the extened warranty. model 381TB. will they send warranty parts to me and i do the repairs if need be?

The problem is the shipping costs. Keystone charges an arm and a leg for shipping. They might send you the parts. My dealer is only 20 minutes away so I just pick up if need be. With the extended warranty and the dealer being so close, I just take it in. I just picked it up yesterday after having a slide motor replaced. While it was there I had them do the roof service. Yes Dutch I paid to have it done. :hide:
Dropped it off last Friday and picked it up yesterday. It's all about the relationship. Cookies, doughnuts and alcohol go a long way

You can obviously go thru the unit again. You own it. They are not going to do the full walk thru showing you and explaining how everything works.
If an identified repair is not complete or right you obviously can address that immediately.

At least seasure1 ends with a firing. That’s a positive step in that story.

Typically Keystone will only ship parts to a dealer. You should be able to have the dealer order the parts for you and you can pick up the parts and do your own install. If they are warranty parts, Keystone may require that the dealer do the warranty work.
Camping World is notorious for bad service and poor quality repairs. The Camping World near me went through 4 general managers and 5 service managers in one year. I no longer do business with them. You have every right to inspect their work before you leave that dealer. You also have every right to do another walk through on your own and ask questions when you are done. As mentioned previously, there are walk through check lists in the files of this forum. I suggest you print them out and use them when you do your own walk through. The dealer is not obligated to do another “delivery” type walk through as those usually take over an hour if they do it right. Make another “punch list” of warranty repair’s needed and DOCUMENT EVERYTHING in writing, with follow up emails documenting your discussions and your understanding of actions you have requested, and their response commitments. You need to document everything with these guys, otherwise they can deny they ever made any agreements. This will keep them honest and cannot say they never agreed to anything. They also will know you will hold their feet to the fire. Good luck.
