I went to replace the carpet on my long slide on my 2017 3160RL and upon removing the carpeted angle piece to cover wiring, this is what I found. It's been like that since built. Amazing that it didn't cut into power wire. Could have been a bad end result.

Actually the second picture appears to show black marks from sparks or high heat. I would have expected at least a tripped breaker.

My Montana High Country is 2 years newer than yours. And after all these years, I am still amazed at how pathetic these fifth wheel were built. When I have a repair or do a change, I am completely taken-back at the things I find. It's a wonder they've survived this long!

I recently removed the panel under the stove/oven and decided to turn that into usable storage space. It made no sense to drill a hole and put the wires right in the middle of that huge cavity of space. Moving the wire over, coming up through the floor only 13 inches would have made it possible for that space to be utilized. It wasn't because the wire was too short. When I pulled the wire out of the hole, I had about 3 feet of extra wire .... such stupidity!

The carpet install is complete for the slide and rear under the pullout.
