We bought our 3231CK in Colorado at the end of September 2024. We were able to trade our Airstream there for a bit more reasonable price than other dealerships we talked with regarding a trade. It was still a low ball number but more than anywhere else. I had been wanting this particular floor plan and was thrilled to get it. Within the first three days, we knew we had warranty issues and returned to the dealership to have them fixed. Wiring issues in the kitchen slide, above the stove, above the sofa, above the bed, shades falling off, trim falling off and oven light not working. Returned home to find the refrigerator dead and oven will not stay on, nor even to light a majority of the time. A few other miscellaneous items also.
We took it to our local dealer where they had it for 6 weeks or so. Left for our winter in Arizona, where we confirmed the oven would definitely not work, and more small issues were discovered. In April upon return we took it back to our local dealership, they had it until June, oven still not fixed. Took it to Wisconsin then back to the dealership, they had it until early August, oven still not fixed, but other issues were. Promises to order another oven of a different brand, go to hook up and battery is dead, found out the charge controller was no longer working. For past three weeks, trying to get this charge controller approved and replaced before we leave for a three week trip out west. Supposedly wiring of charge controller was screwed up at the factory. Oven is now known product defect. Somebody wasn’t doing their job at the factory particularly in the wiring area. No boondocking for us with no charge controller. Yes, we can use a generator but we spent extra money for a larger battery and more solar panels.
Overall, we have owned this trailer for 11 months and it has spent a total of 5 months at the dealership. Keystone says one thing, dealership another. I swear their warranty people are on vacation, or don’t talk to service or vice versus, promises made never kept. This trailer was an early model 2024 at the Colorado dealership and set there for months before we bought it. I wonder….. did they know there were issues?
Thanks for letting me vent.

Candace - I think it’s ok to mention dealerships in this forum. The information might help others.

I’m hoping that you might be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with the issues on your rig…but I don’t think any of us ever reach nirvana with no issues. I have a list of things to fix and improve on my unit. From here out keep notes and take photos, and come here with your questions and issues. Nobody here has “seen it all”. We can learn from your issues and offer help and advice…so don’t be a stranger!

Candace-- the biggest problem I see is that you are taking it to your local dealer to have service done. Is your local dealer a Montana dealer? A lot of dealers will put off or not even work on a unit that was not bought from them. This sounds dumb but it is the truth. I know the dealer you bought it from is a long distance from Boone but you might want to contact them and explain the problem and hopefully they will back your unit. I would do this ASAP because even if it is a new unit the warranties run out. Also, have you contacted Keystone Customer Service in Goshen on the problems and see what they have had to say? Remember one thing-- you get things done with honey rather than vinegar. This meaning be patient and not get mad or angry when talking to Customer Service and they might help you out more.

I would add to make sure you have clear, written documentation from all sides so your warranty problems started clearly before the the 12 months are up.

You might also summarize in writing what still needs to be done so a Keystone rep has a good list so they don’t have to unravel history.

Thanks for letting me vent.
Thank you for venting that’s very interesting. I’m wondering if it was built during the COVID years. I lot of manufacturers were pushing out RVs.

For further clarification; our Montana is a 2024 3231CK purchased new in September 2024 from Windish RV, a Montana dealer at Colorado Springs, CO. From the first day, we started having issues, mostly small things, if you consider wiring problems small. We’ve had issues with wiring, air conditioner, bolts/screws broken or missing, awning brackets falling off, trim falling off the walls in multiple places, and the door would not stay closed, flew open multiple times in travel. The refrigerator quit in the second week on our return home. The oven did not work, or would not stay lit from the start. Our local dealer is also a Montana dealer, (Goodlife RV) they have been fairly easy to work with, getting the small or less complicated issues resolved, but the larger issues seem to drag along with slow progress.
I have worked in customer service my whole career; I know how to communicate. Kill them with kindness. My husband who is quite patient has been communicating with the dealer and Keystone, he is nothing if not polite. But return calls not made when promised, warranty personnel being extremely slow in submitting claims, communication between dealership personnel are all problems we’ve dealt with during this time. And yes we have been in multiple conversations with Keystone CS. This is our second Montana and we have been RVing for 30 years.

Right now, there is no light at the end of the tunnel. For the cost of these rigs, we should receive better quality of build and dependable service. We’re hoping no larger problems develop.

Good Grief!!!

That is a lot of issues. Is there a lemon law? I would have taken this unit back. Did everything work fine during the walk through?

We had a 2010 3000RK Montana and had very few problems. The newer Montana's are pushed thru. Keystone very fast and definately no quality control. Very little service after purchase and people in the factory are not trained people. I definitely would not purchase a new Montana. Pre-covid would be a better purchase. Keystone DOESN"T CARE! Mass produced and no quality control for maximum profit.

Stay away from the dealer ship, find a local mobile rv tech, repair approvals generally take 24 hrs and once the technician orders the parts it takes about a week to get the parts.

Seems like some of the trim issues could have been fixed by you. Not saying the warranty won't cover it but it's generally not worth the effort for a couple of brad nails. Also, if the dealership needs to order parts for a repair, just let them order the parts and take the RV and go camp until the parts come in. A non working oven is no reason not to keep using the camper. Letting the camper sit at the dealer just waiting for parts is just wasting time. Keep using it while parts are order.
