Wondering if we can remove the hitch pin box? We are set up perm in a seasonal site and it would be nice if that head banger was gone! Of course we would keep in case of future need. Thanks in advance.
2008 Montana 3400RL on upstate NY.

No problem with removing it. Six bolts on each side I think. Plus the wired devices.

I removed mine by backing my truck where the tailgate was under the pin box. Then lowered the front of the trailer until the pin box was almost touching the tailgate. Removed the bolts. Let the hitch slip down on the tailgate. Raised the trailer. And pulled the truck forward.

Thx. We would have to use someone's truck to do that way as we do not trailer it.

I agree with Daryl, it is heavy. But your 2008 is probably like my 2007 was. A basic no frills pin box. After getting it off I could lift and carry mine by myself, barely. Two men could probably get it off ok.

Or just remove the bolts and let it drop, being sure to keep your toes out of the way. If you are on a concrete or asphalt pad, you might want to place some boards of a piece of plywood to keep from chipping the pad if it does drop.
