I added this to hang over the cabinets, in that blank space, in the monty. It was a boat paddle that belonged to Don's mom. I sanded it, stained it golden oak and painted this Colorado Mule Deer. As soon as it dries it gets taken out to the Monty. The colors didn't show up well in the camera picture. And the angle I took picture makes the deer's head look smaller but it actually isn't.

Thanks Suzanne,
I am most critical of my own work. [:p]I think I should have positioned the deer more toward the end and etc. and etc. LOL I did this one in a hurry too.

Thanks Judy!

Thanks Tom and Nancy.
I been doing this since I was a child. Mostly wild life subjects.
Your cat looks like our cat's twin.:)

You are a talented lady. It looks very nice, the wood is always warm looking in decorating.

Great job Dusty.. It should fit nicely. How about another picture when you get it hung? What are you going to attach it with?

Thank you IMP and Ozz.
I attach everything in there hanging with industrial velcro.

I plan on taking a picture when we hang it. It will take awhile to dry enough to hang. Right now it is too cold to go out there. LOL
We bought the Monty Christmas presents and has been too cold to do anything with them. Or install them. [:p]

Dusty
What a great idea and it is soooooo beautiful. I wish I had your talent. I recently painted some wood trunks for the Monty but had to use stencils as I don't have your talent. I told my daughters not being able to draw or paint was one of my regrets in life but with stencils, I can. (The other regret is, in a very musical family, I can't carry a tune!) Do you plan on doing more? Be sure and post a picture when you get it in your very lucky Monty.
Happy trails..........................

Dusty, That really looks nice! I have been thinking about getting out my wood burning thingy and doing something to put up in that space too. Maybe this will motivate me to do so! Thanks for sharing!!

Thank you all, you all are so kind.

I have been doing this for many years but get bored with it. Almost all my relatives have something I have painted hanging on their walls. I did a cougar for my uncle, a bear standing in a stream with a fish in his mouth for someone, a moose, Canadian geese several times. Also a large mouth bass for uncle. It is much easier to do on canvas than on something slick as this piece.
When I was a child my parents couldn't keep me furnished with canvas. When I would run out, I would paint on boards, cardboard and anything I could find. I even painted pheasants on a round ketchup bottle. Sold it at my mom's yard sale. LOL
Mostly animals or birds, but did paint a picture for my mom of grandfather's old barn.

Beautiful Dusty!! About all I can draw is flies. I'm trying to learn to oil paint though. Looks kinda like Grandma Moses (Grandpa moses?)
I enjoy my scratchings though, along with building my helis, and trains.
Can't do animals thoughm don't know why.[:p]

Thanks Rick and Phyllis.

I have a step-aunt that didn't know she could paint until after she retired and took classes at a senior center. She did beautiful paintings! I have a old "cross cut" saw that she painted Beagles hunting.
I have trouble with scenery. Trees, grass and etc.

What a talent to have - I have no abilities to draw whatsoever and am very envious of those that do. I do appreciate the beauty in what I see, but expressing it in art form just doesn't work.

Very nice piece of work!
