Outside Lights

My two main outside lights have all of a sudden stopped working. Verified the light bulbs and checked for tripped breakers and fuses.
Anybody got any thoughts on what could cause this?

If no fuse is blown then I would look at the switch.

how about the remote control switch.....
I recall someone saying if you use the remote to turn them on you must use it to turn them off - the inside switch will not do it. May be the same in reverse.

I would look at the remote first particularly the remote module. It's a known problem and there are several threads in history on how to rewire around the problem although it usually manifests itself with the slides.

I would try turning the DS light on with the remote, this is also the one the hitch light is connected to. The other ODS light is not able to be controlled by the remote. If it does not come on with the remote either then I would suspect there is no power to the lights.

The red light on a fuse that is burned out will only come on if that switch is on to that circuit. It will not indicate a burnt fuse unless the switch is on. Turn those light switches on then check the fuse lights.

I would think both lights might be on the same fuse.

When I was checking my remote module today to assist in another problem I found that even with no power to the module those lights could still be turned on with the switches in the unit, as well the awning could still be operated. Those things could not be operated remotely with no power to the module of course. I don't think there is any problem with the remote module, since only one of the security lights is operational from the remote.

I am thinking a fuse.

I have never had a remote. I'm not sure if my 2008 model comes with that option. I will look into the switches and double check the fuses, but with all the light switches on no fuse lights come on.

It sure would be nice if Keystone would provide owners with a schematic diagram of the electrical wiring in our units. At the very least a block diagram would be helpful. It would also assist dealers in their attempts to deal with electrical problems.

If you have no remote Lance, then I would assume you have no remote receiver/module. I did assume that was what you had but did not think that was the problem. I also assume you have separate switches for the two security lights, it would be odd for both switches to go at the same time. If neither light works and they are on separate switches then they must share a common power source, there is an interruption in that... where that is remains the mystery....

My '07 has no remote and only one switch for both security (scare) lights. Likely his '08 is the same way.

My 2008 3400RL has the remote but we put it away and never touch it.
