Out of Valley Early

I have talked to a number of couples in the valley and they will shorten their stay because of the rise in fuel prices. I figure it will cost me an extra $75.00 a fill-up to get home to MI., ouch the price just went up another $.10 last night. I am not putting any money down on a site for next year I figure their wil be plenty of sites open unless fuel prices turn around.

Wow, interesting thinking that fuel prices are such a sensitive issue. I can honestly say that IF the DW and I were there the last thing we would be worried about would be the little extra to GET HOME and we are 1800 miles from there. However, I sure can see these high prices affecting many future plans that people have, even for our situation. I am amazed at how much focus we put on these current prices, and yes ourselves included, yet when we recently ordered a new truck we seemed to keep adding options $500. here and $300. there without near the concern for the added cost. Go figure!!!

I do understand the concerns that arise because of higher fuel prices. It's not just the fuel, but everything moves by trucks that use fuel. So, everything is probably going to go up.

With that said, I looked at what my MPG's are, and the difference at $3 a gallon versus $5 a gallon. The difference at my 8.9 mpg is about $600 on a 3000 mile round trip. There are ways to cut back to achieve some of that difference. (Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches work for me for lunch.)

So in may, we head out. I have an appointment in Gaffney, SC, and from there - who knows.

We all do what we have to do, and no one know exactly how the other ones are faring.

Seems I recall some of the winter Texans not being able to return north in 2008 when fuel prices skyrocketed.
