We are planning to depart Winnipeg for our Snowbird trip to Arizona in the next week. The temps are expected to be around -7C or 15F. When crossing the border US Customs often want to check our kitchen for restricted foods and am wondering if we will have any problems opening the hydraulic operated slides.

If your Batteries are in good shape shouldn't be a problem, but the slides may move very slowly when that cold.

They may also stop and after a few second wait start again. It's the resetable breaker for the pump and the thickness of the fluid is causing it to trip. Keystone replaced ours with an 80amp breaker under warranty.

After crossing the border for many years and being checked for items not allowed and having never had a single item that was not allowed, we encountered an agent who even though our 5er was on a very bad slope required us to open not just the kitchen slide but all slides for their inspection, in spite of my request to move to a more level spot we were told to do as we were told and open the slides. I encountered no problems with the slides going in and out in temps that were around 0 deg C, however I was concerned because of the slope we were on.
The following year at the same crossing we were required to do the same but this time the agent cleared a space on level ground for us and only required us to open the kitchen slide. Again no problems with operating the slide.
I don't know what they would do if your slides simply would not co-operate in this situation and I don't intend to find out.

Since your monty is almost new, I assume it has the switches to allow opening of only one slide. So I think it would be easy if you only open the slide needed for the inspectors to check the frig.
