Oh boy, leaking slide

Well I was hoping this would never happen but it has. We have had rain and cold weather in the RGV all night and now the drips have started on the ceiling of the dining slide. Not sure what the fix might be, so I thought I would try that new waterproofing spray like they advertise on TV. I hope its not the rubber gasket on the outside of the slide. In the meantime here's hoping the rain will stop soon.

The top of our DR slide on the 3400RL was never properly sealed at the factory. It was under warranty when it leaked, so the dealer sealed it...and another slide that was not sealed.

When you say "sealed" what do you mean exactly?

I think you should look closely and be sure what caused the leak. Tell us exactly where the moisture is. The roof of the slide should be a single piece of material, and waterproof. There must be separation at a joint such as an edge or a missing screw. I assume you do not have toppers. That being the case, some debris could have damaged the roof or a seal. Really need to look closely and make repairs carefully.

That "waterproof" spray you see on TV is useless stuff ,fix it right the first time,find the tear/rip and get some Eternabond tape or use Dicor rubber roof sealant

Thank you, I was hoping there would be some alternative to that spray. I will look for the other products you mentioned and look for a break in the covering on the slide roof because the water drips from the bottom of the slide trim boards which tells me the water is getting in through the roof panel.

The outside trim on my son in laws trailer leaked where it was cut on a 45 deg at the top corners. I re-taped the corners and also ran new tape along the outside seam and that took care of the problem. If you are able to look up on the top you should figure out if the water could be puddling on the roof.

we had a leak once and it was where the tape met the outside edge of the slide--used dicor roof self leveling stuff and it never leaked again

It also may not be related to the roofing membrane. If you inspect the rubber and find no holes or tears I would look at the small metal trim that is back against the outer face of the top of the slid. I had a drip on mine and I unscrewed that long piece of trim, cleaned everything out, sealed it, and replaced the trim. No more leaks.

Last Spring I found that our bedroom slide would leak during heavy rains. I found that the outside bottom trim caulking had separated. I cleaned and cauled, no more leaks.

JandC, You hit the nail right on the head. I was finally able to get out today and inspect the outside of the slide. It seems the black rubber seal does not come all the way down to the surface of the slide roof. There is a 1" piece of plastic that, I guess it is suppose to stop the water from going any farther into the slide. When the wind and rain blows from a certain direction it blows over this little 1" piece and leaks inside the slide. Now I have to figure out how to extend the black rubber down to the roof of the slide of add some height to the 1" plastic piece.
