No Help From Camping World

Hi, I have a 2020 Montana 3791RD Fifth wheel that the aluminum tubing that holds up the rear living room area is crushed on the top where it meets the living room floor tubes. Both sides are crushed on each side of the rear compartment door. One vertical aluminum tube has a broken weld. Also, at the bottom of the rear wall of the RV, I can see a small gap to the ground where the rear wall has separated from the body and only one screw showing all the way across. Has anyone else had this problem?

My biggest issue is I turned it into Camping World over a year ago and they wouldn't fix it and now it's getting worse. Is there someone at Keystone maybe that I can call to get better results?

I love the Trailer and the layout but not very happy with Camping World telling me there's no warranty that covers structural damage after a certain time!

Bummer! We were seriously considering your model for the extra sleeping capacity and nice storage bay.with slider.

If you have documentation that you alerted CW a year ago, it would be worth calling Keystone. We have found them to be extremely helpful. It pays to be nice to them. Note that it might not be covered by 3 yr frame warranty but doesn’t hurt to ask. If they won’t cover it, they could refer you to approved shops.

It would be helpful if you uploaded some pictures to get an idea of the damage so you can get some responses for potential fixes. (Keystone will want pictures too plus others - they will tell you what they need).

I went back and read your original post from a few years ago when you were experiencing the rear of the camper dragging.

Did the dragging of the camper on the end cause these damages? Or is this separation in different locations of the camper the result of some other cause.

Camping World may be refusing to repair under warrant because they feel the root cause was user error, meaning you caused the damage, it wasn't a manufacturing defect, flaw, or weakness.

At any rate, if Camping World has had the camper for a year now and say it can't be repaired, then you really need to yank that camper out of there and find a shop that will fix it. Maybe you can go through your insurance company as what you are describing will be a costly fix. And if this is damage caused by you, then if you are insured correctly, insurance (might) cover the cost, minus your deductable.

I would NOT let Camping World fix it .... warranty or not. Camping World (nation wide) does NOT have a stellar reputation and a golden track record for quality customer service AFTER the sale. Just the opposite. Just the opposite.... their reputation for service, warranty, and customer satisfaction AFTER the purchase actually rests in the bottom of the toilet bowl!

Find a different repair shop. Check with your insurance company. And forget about Camping World. After all these years, your camper is out of warranty, so forget that avenue.

If possible, take it to Affinity RV Group in Goshen Indiana. At least take pictures and call them. Send them the pictures. They can work miracles. They are also very good at working with Keystone and Lippert regarding getting them to stand behind the warranty.

So - you are saying the aluminum tube framing in the rear storage bay has failed (like the area in the screen shot below)? You need to take lots of photos and get them to Keystone with copies of receipts from Camping World. I would contact Affinity (as suggested by Daryles) and start talking to them about what it will take to repair.

I dont have this storage bay on my 2018 unit, but if i was faced with your situation and since my unit is WAY out of warranty, i would start figuring out a fix i could do myself using bolts, screws, brackets and plates - because I am not a welder. If this framing is a substantial contributor to the lateral stability of the RV “box” on the frame due to welded connections, i would lean toward Affinity doing the fix. If its intention is to support dead weight of the bedroom floor - i would do the “screw and plate” fix myself.

Yes, that's correct, they are bent at the rear of the coach against the rear wall and there is also some light crushing on a couple of the vertical tubes heading towards the front.

This camper has a great lay out if you don't have full time guests with you. I love the RV it's just Camping World thats the Problem. I've had problems with them since the day I bought it in Lakewood, NJ.

I will post some pictures as soon as I get a chance and reply to the others.

Thanks!

If you reach out directly to Keystone, they may be able to suggest another dealer in your area that is authorized to do warranty work.

Camping World, in many years of exposure, is dependent on the local management of THAT particular facility - they all belong to a much larger corporation which does in fact respond - btdt many times. Depending on a particular dealership and not knowing how the process works, an owner then blames the "dealer" for unhappiness as alluded to in the quoted post which is actually on the owner that doesn't take care of business. Those that have accepted less than stellar service from a less than stellar Camping World dealer, then forwards their failures to others as fact is disingenuous. I've never had them fail to step up anywhere across the US I travel.

I had similar issues with Camping World in Lakewood.

When I called Keystone they gave me two of their recommended dealers.

I called them, first one blew me off, we are backed up for months etc.

The best was the second dealer!

We looked up your name in our database and you did not purchase the RV
from us.

Our policy is that we only service/repair units that were purchased here.

I told the GM of the dealer my displeasure and that my next purchase would not be from his dealership and I will tell everyone I come in contact with of your poor business tactics.

That is a *VERY* common policy of RV dealers. It is why many of us recommend buying from a local dealer unless you don't care about warranty repairs.

My 2020 3761FL is in Springfield Illinois at a Camping World. Keystone directed me there while I was on the road. 2 cross members broke there welds. I'm out of structural warranty, but due to previous frame issues, I called Keystone. After 2 months there Keystone said, out of warranty. I knew that, why get involved then? It's being fixed at my expense, problem is it's in Illinois and I live in Arizona. Road trip is don't want to make in the winter. FYI, Lippert makes our frames, and why there us no class action lawsuit against them is beyond me. ALL horrible welds.

In general most RVs are built cheap and they don't brace the framework where they should. My 3901RK has the rear storage area like the one shown in the picture from Mikendebbie. Since our fridge is all the way at the rear and my horizontal tubing is not attached to the vertical members, the flooring under the fridge was beginning to sag. I installed additional cross members made from 2x4 wood to help support the fridge. Then I added 3/8 finish grade plywood on the vertical aluminum studs for the entire length of that bay. I also installed metal gussets attached to the plywood and the horizontal aluminum to make the structure a bit more rigid so I couldn't get any side to side movement. In the front of my unit, the horizontal aluminum flooring members are welded to the vertical aluminum studs so I'm not sure why that wasn't done in the rear of the unit.

3791 in need of repairs

Make an appointment at affinity in Goshen in. They work closely with keystone and usual can get factory defects covered. They definitely can do the repairs. However there wait list can be lengthy

I put the blame on the manufacturer. Auto manufacturers require their dealers to provide full service on any vehicle they manufacturer that the dealer sells. This is something trailer manufacturers don't require of their dealers.

I have same model 2020 and keystone and Camping World are terrible. Had all kinds of issues Camping world kept it 5 months out of first 12 I owned it. Had a leak at 2 years and they said it was improper maintained on my part. They said was coming from top of slide. Was forever finding it. I finally found it was coming from a screw they had not sealed when mounted awning. Keystone is awful when its comes to warranty. They come up with all kind of excuses.. Also don't get me started on Camping world they are worthless. I would never buy another Keystone product ever again.
