Member Title: Greetings
A new member introduced themselves and outlined many years of RV ownership, including tent camping, trailers, truck campers, and motorhomes, before moving from a Thor Omni SV34 to a new Montana 3100RL for longer stays. The immediate issue was a delivery delay because of a recall involving a 2026 Montana underbelly panel that could detach during transit, but the member said parts were on the way and the dealer would deliver the unit once repaired.

Other members mostly welcomed them to the...

Boy, don’t we look like a fun couple?

My wife (Pam) and I (Gary) have been married 47 years, and in that time, we have tent camped, had a pop-up trailer, then a small fifth wheel, followed by a 2-bedroom travel trailer that was a seasonal at Yogi while our daughter was young. As she got older, we had a 36-foot fifth wheel, then after my crew cab dually was totaled (by a Ford Focus), we sold the fifth wheel and got a Lance slide in truck camper, this was followed by a Dolphin gas class A.

We took a few years off from RV’s and in that time, we moved from Michigan to Alabama to be closer to our daughter. October 2023, we purchased a 2021 Thor Omni SV34 which was great for weekends or maybe a couple of weeks at a time. However, friends suggested we do a two month stay at Camping on the Gulf. It became clearly obvious that the Omni was just too cramped for an extended stay of that duration, so we traded it in on a new Montana 3100RL, which we were supposed to take delivery this past Monday 04/27.

Unfortunately, when we arrived at the dealer we were informed of the recall and were not able to take it home. The dealer said they would deliver it to us after the recall order was complete.

So, while we are new to the Montana, having every type of RV except a class B and a DP, we are not newbies, nor are we arrogant, there is always something to learn and we are looking forward to interacting with this group.

Welcome to the MOC! Lots of good people here.

I am curious though: what recall?

Underbelly may detach during transit

The underbelly may be improperly secured and could detach while driving. A detached panel can become a road hazard for other vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash.

Parts are on their way, so we're good. Dealer is about 2-1/2 hours away, so with them delivering the unit saves us another trip.

Welcome to the MOC. Enjoy your new rig once you get it.
Thanks, looking forward to it. We also looked at a DP capable of flat towing our F-150, but in the end the Montana was the winner. Overall, even though we had to purchase a new truck (F-350) combined, it was less money than the DP, and we're back to two engines, not three. With the extra room and storage of the 3100 it's a win, win for us.

Welcome to the forum! It sounds like you might have some wisdom to share here about the joys of RV ownership!

Welcome, enjoy your new Montana. Be sure to check out the information on the annual Fall Rally in Goshen, it's a great way to learn more about your rig and make new "Montana" friends:

Just registered, looking forward to meeting new people.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it once it finally arrives.
We just got back from a road trip from Indiana to Northern Georgia to visit our son and his wife. We saw more Brinkley's and Montana's than any other 5th wheels on the road. Must be the two most popular brands in this area.
