New model decor options??

We are down to ironing out the final details on the 3850FL Big Sky and are not overly impressed with the interior color options. Our build sheet only shows two options, Copper Patina and Carbon. We really like the Blackthorn interior on our current rig, but are not sure about these metallic types. The two options appear to be accented with either gold or copper, neither of which is particularly appealing to the DW. We are leaning towards Carbon, but have to admit that it comes with one hideous looking bedspread. We have decided one of the first mods is going to be replacement of the three day/night shades in the bedroom with black wooden-like horizontal blinds, which would match the Carbon decor nicely. I think a lighter plastic blind would work better than an actual wooden blind due to the weight on the wall at the large rear window. Anyone with the new interior decor color's have any comments, pro or con. Guess decision time will be tonight, and if all is good (so far it is), we should be formalizing the purchase via mail.

We too love our Blackthorn interior - the new options not so much. We did look at the 2014 recently and if I was buying a new Montana it would be the Carbon - don't love it but considering the choices it was the better of the 2 options.

That's kind of where we would come down also. Joyce thinks Keystone needs to let women have a greater say in the interior decorating schemes. Something to bring up again at the Rally.

I replaced the bedspread on my 3750 with a quilt, I didn't like the factory spread, I put it in a bag to save for the nect owne

We have the carbon and really like it--we have wooden blind on window over dresser in Bedroom,, maybe they do something different in the 3850. The valance in the Bedroom is a different design than in the living area.

3850 is still all day/night shades since there is no dresser with a window. We have noticed that the shades are much lighter on the night shade end than on our original 3400. They do not block hardly any light which is why we are going to change the three bedroom windows (the large rear window which is the living room window on most models and the two smaller windows next to the bed in the slideout). The decor will be a DW decision, so we will have to wait and see, I think they are making a mistake doing away with the Blackthorn!

We ordered copper patina and dark leather. On the brochures it shows Blackthorne, Carbon, and Copper Patina. I suggest an email to Krol.

Web-site shows Blackthorn available as dealer stock only. So I assume not available for factory orders. I am waiting for a couple e-mail request replies from Mark, will tack that one on also.

I know that the Blackthorn is no longer available unless a dealer has it in stock, and I understand the Mocha may not be anymore either..

I think we are going to ask for Blackthorn and in the event it is not available we will have a backup option of Carbon. Looked at quite a few pictures tonight online and decided that we also will go with the tan leather option instead of the dark brown that we had originally decided on. Paul and Jan provided some needed info on the decor that we appreciate! Looking at pictures, we also started to worry about the requested change of the sliding door to a conventional door between the bath and bedroom area. The sliding door has a wooden casing at the top that covers the slide assembly and we are concerned whether removing this will provide problems to the wall itself? That is the last sticky part before placing the order it seems.

The sliding door between the bath and bedroom sounds like a good idea. I am just completing the replacement of mine from DW closing the slide on it. Had to make a custom door from 1/4" finished plywood and oak frame in my shop.
Don't think you could destroy a sliding door like that.

Keith, that was the rationale they gave for the sliding door. Ironically, there is conventional door immediately adjacent to it that separates the hall from the bedroom. The logic evades me? If Larry (Hook) can assure me that the CW service staff can do the switch and we cannot see where the sliding door header was, then that is the option that I really want. I had a sliding door in the 3400 and do not like them at all.

Does the new model have a hallway from bedroom to kitchen, with the bathroom its own room? If so how much room do you lose in the bathroom and where does the washer and dryer closet go?

Yes, there is a hallway. Washer Dryer (stackable) was moved from the bathroom into the end of the kitchen slide. If you go to Keystone's website for Montana's you can look at the floorplan for the 3850. It is rather unique.
