NAFR26 parking team sign-ups are open for the rally, with volunteers needed for waving rigs into Gate 3, signing arrivals in, and escorting rigs to their assigned sites. The escort role needs the most help because sites may be tight, rigs must stay within painted lines with slides open, and volunteers may need to spot or help reposition rigs when necessary.

Members were asked to help when they have free time rather than follow set shifts, since arrivals often come in waves and most rigs...

It's June 1st and we are just a bit over 3 months until the RALLY so we are now officially open for business.

We do three different jobs on the "Parking Team". Waving, signing and escort services. All take a different skill set but the last one can really wear you out, especially at our ages.

Waving...
We will have one entrance (gate three) at the rally that we prefer to use. There are more than one but the others can cause issues for the drivers. We like to post a person or preferably two or more at Gate number three. We should have an awning set up there and chairs. People at the gate will watch for Montys driving down East Monroe St (CR 34) both east and west bound. When they see one they will wave hysterically to get their attention so they will turn in the correct entrance. A word of caution, the west bound ones can really sneak up on you. . Once the Montys turn into Gate Three, they will make a right turn into the parking lot.

Signing...
Once people turn into the parking lot we will have a "Parking Team" member down towards the west end greet the incomer and sign them in. We can answer some questions there and get them hooked up with their escort service.
Sometimes there may be multiple rigs waiting for escorts but usually the escorts can take care of business fairly quickly to help out another john, I mean rig. Unlike some escort services, ours do not work at night. We believe in family time too.

Escort Service...
This is where we need the most help. We will be sending out two escorts with each rig. Hopefully we can put a rookie with a seasoned pro. At least until everyone goes pro. The escorts will guide the rigs to their parking site and remain with the rig until they disconnect or at least pinky swear they won't move the rig. Sometimes the escorts will be asked to park the rigs. Most of the time we just spot and make sure the rigs are in the correct position. Escorts can do whatever they are comfortable with.

This is very important. The spots will be marked by painted lines on the ground. The rigs when parked and slides open cannot infringe on their neighbors site. If a rig is misplaced they will be asked to reposition to make them selves legal. The record is two repositionings, this was not the fault of the rig driver. My apologies again for you having to move. Some of these sites are very tight. There is nothing we can do about this. We are using all of the full hook up, 50 amp sites in the campground. It's not our fault that the new rigs are soooo much bigger than what they used to be. If you have rented a cart and want to get your moneys worth than bring it with you for "Parking Team" participation. It also gives you shade and a seat for the slow times. You can also use a bike if you want. Ask Larry M how many rigs you can park in a day before you say uncle. Lucky for him the temperature didn't hit 100 that day.

Escort teams will have a primary and secondary escort. The secondary is mainly a spotter. Please ask the driver how much assistance they need before you start. This is to help avoid confusion.

We will have traffic flow guidance for parking to prevent bottlenecks. It may not be the quickest way to the site but it keeps things running smooth and besides, I'm not paying for the gas.

We don't set any work hours for volunteers. Everyone has things that need doing so I just ask that if you have some free time please come up to the parking lot to help out. It also seems that arrivals come in waves. We'll be slow for an hour and then all **** breaks loose. Most rigs come in the afternoon but we do get some in the morning. We also try to swap out jobs but some people like to do certain things and that's fine too. Just remember to share.

So go slap some cold water on your face to wake up and have a nice day. I'll be posting more later, so keep an eye on this thread for important information and parking team updates!!

Only because you asked for it. I'll try to mix some new in with the old. And yes...you too can be one of the bestest group in all of MOC history. You can do that by joining the Parking Team. More details to be revealed at a later date.

Well I'm a-running down the
Road trying to loosen my load
I've got seven campers on my mind
Four that want to own me, two that want
to stone me
One says they're a friend of mine

Parking's easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels
Drive you crazy
Follow me while you still can
Don't even try to understand
Just find a place to park your rig
Cause parking's easy

Well I'm a-standin on the corner in
Goshen Indiana
With such a fine sight to see
It's a rig, my lord, with a souped up ford
Slowin down to take a look at me
Come on baby, don't say maybe
I've got to know if your camp site is gonna save me
We may lose or we may win
But we may never park here again
So follow close I'm leading in, cause parking's easy

Hopefully they get better but the Parking Team is forever.

Larry M and Paul and Jan K. Thanks for signing up. That may be the closest timing of posts yet. Who will get the bronze? I didn't catch your arrival dates.

What an impressive list of first day responders. Here goes...Jan R, Fred and Kim K, David S, Jody P, John and Paula T. You all rock and are now officially members of the greatest organization since the sliced bread club. Welcome to the "Parking Team". (not legal in all 50 states)

A firm handshake to our newest signer uppers. Mike P, Bobby V, Patricia and Jeffery B. Thanks for your support. You are the ones who prevent the total chaos of a dystopian rally. We need more anti-distopians just like you. (That's a subtle hint)

Mike and Karen D. Glad to have you on board. The earlier you arrive on Tuesday the more fun you can have.

We had a lot of fun helping with parking our first year at the rally. We were sorry we couldn’t help out last year!!! Looking forward to some great days this year helping with parking!!!

Lee K, thanks for signing up. I was wondering what was taking so long. Just building up the suspense I guess.

Since I'm doing lots of other things this year I'll just help when I can and be around for levity.

Butch J, thanks for signing up. Don't forget your trikes. It might be all we have this year.

Thanks Wayne H. I was just chatting with Patty. Welcome aboard, again. Now go get Les to sign up.

Woody Deb and I finally cleared our schedule to be there for parking. I'd like to join the team.

Also we can be there the 7th.

Steve

Once again it is time for the GOLDEN TICKET awards. Parking Team volunteers that would like to arrive on the seventh (Monday afternoon) can sign up here. We only have a limited number of openings so it will be first come, first serve. Grand Design is supposed to be gone be noon and Greg will need a little time to mow and whatever. So arrivals should be planned for late afternoon. All Monday arrivals should (I hope) be parked in the 400 loop. I need to submit the names by the end of the month so once the spots are gone I will submit the names. Leave your name on this thread. Ready, set, go.
