Houston, we have liftoff. We are now officially open for business.

We do three different jobs on the "Parking Team". Waving, signing and escort services. All take a different skill set but the last one can really wear you out, especially at our ages.

Waving...
We will have one entrance (gate three) at the rally that we prefer to use. There are more than one but the others can cause issues for the drivers. We like to post a person or preferably two or more at Gate number three. We should have an awning set up there and chairs. People at the gate will watch for Montys driving down East Monroe St (CR 34) both east and west bound. When they see one they will wave hysterically to get their attention so they will turn in the correct entrance. A word of caution, the west bound ones can really sneak up on you. . Once the Montys turn into Gate Three, they will make a right turn into the parking lot.

Signing...
Once people turn into the parking lot we will have a "Parking Team" member down towards the west end greet the incomer and sign them in. We can answer some questions there and get them hooked up with their escort service.
Sometimes there may be multiple rigs waiting for escorts but usually the escorts can take care of business fairly quickly to help out another john, I mean rig. Unlike some escort services ours do not work at night. We believe in family time too.

Escort Service...
This is the where we need the most help. We will be sending out two escorts with each rig. Hopefully we can put a rooky with a seasoned pro. At least until everyone goes pro. The escorts will guide the rigs to their parking site and remain with the rig until they disconnect or at least pinky swear they won't move the rig. Some times the escorts will be asked to park the rigs. Most of the time we just spot and make sure the rigs are in the correct position. Escorts can do whatever they are comfortable with.

This is very important. The spots will be marked by painted lines on the ground. The rigs when parked and slides open cannot infringe on their neighbors site. If a rig is misplaced they will be asked to reposition to make them selves legal. The record is two repositionings, this was not the fault of the rig driver. My apologies again for you having to move. Some of these sites are very tight. There is nothing we can do about this. We are using all of the full hook up, 50 amp sites in the campground. It's not our fault that the new rigs are soooo much bigger than what they used to be. The WMs will be loaning us 4 or 5 golf carts to assist with the escort duty. If you have rented a cart and want to get your moneys worth than bring it with you for "Parking Team" participation. It also gives you shade and a seat for the slow times. You can also use a bike if you want. Ask Larry M how many rigs you can park in a day before you say uncle. Lucky for him the temperature didn't hit 100 that day.

Escort teams will have a primary and secondary escort. The secondary is mainly a spotter. Please ask the driver how much assistance they need before you start. This is to help avoid confusion.

We will have traffic flow guidance for parking to prevent bottlenecks. It may not be the quickest way to the site but it keeps things running smooth and besides, I'm not paying for the gas.

We don't set any work hours for volunteers. Every one has things that need doing so I just ask that if you have some free time please come up to the parking lot to help out. It also seems that arrivals come in waves. We'll be slow for an hour and than all **** breaks loose. Most rigs come in the afternoon but we do get some in the morning. We also try to swap out jobs but some people like to do certain things and that's fine too. Just remember to share.

Something added this year will be arrival weighing. I'm not sure of the cost, times, exact location, and most of every thing else. When we get clarity on that I will post how it will affect the 2025 "Parking Team".

Please sign up under the following links in the next panel.

So go slap some cold water on your face to wake up and have a nice day. I'll be posting more later.

Hmmm, I'm going to take awhile to get used to this. Thanks to you and the Mrs volunteering to help. And I like the third link.

Something I left out of the big announcement is that five lucky campers that can be in Goshen on the first of September will gain entry to the park for an additional night of fun. Of course it also means that you are proud members of the "Parking Team" and plan on helping Tuesday morning to get more "Parking Team" members in so they in turn can help more "Parking Team" members in so they can help get more "Parking Team" members in. And then if there are any Montys that haven't volunteered for the "Parking Team", we'll let them in. The additional nights cost is unknown at this time but I'm guessing 40$. More details to follow.

Steve Knight, glad to have you back. If you want to commit to the first you can have one of those spots. Let me know what you decide.

Jan Richman, you too are welcome back. Glad we didn't burn you and Steve out last year. Remember "Parking Team" members can enter early on the second. Let me know if you want an AM arrival.

Larry Crawford, you are our first fresh meat of the season. Welcome aboard, I know you won't regret it. At least not until it sinks in. Same applies to you if you want an early arrival on the second.

Thanks Steve, three down and three to go. I'll be posting more information as the summer progresses.

Are you a leader, a follower or a whatever? If you are then you'd be the perfect candidate to sign up for the 2025 "Parking Team". These rigs won't park themselves. The more help we have the faster we can get people in to start enjoying themselves. And if that isn't incentive enough, I will start posting comments from the last few years. It will take you an extra cup of coffee every morning to get through your reading. Think I'm bluffing. This is just a taste.

It's time to start playing some of the golden oldies. This one was at number one for what seemed like minutes.

Give me a "P"
Give me a "A"
Give me a "R"
Give me a "K"
What's that spell?
What's that spell?
What's that spell?

Well, come on all you big strong men (and women)
Uncle MOC needs your help again.
Got himself in a terrible jam
Way up yonder in the Goshen.
Put down your books and pick up a map
We don't have time for a nap.

And it's one, two, three,
What are we parking for?
Don't ask me I don't give a damn
Next stop is the Goshen.

And it's five, six, seven,
Open up that big main gate.
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopee we're all going to have a really fun time

And if you want to start having fun before every one else you can sign up for the "Parking Team". This is really one of the high lights of the entire rally. Okay, maybe not the entire rally, but the rally won't start until every one is parked. And we can only do that with volunteers.

There will be multiple additions to this thread and if you have suffered with me this long than you might have what it takes to be on the "Parking Team". Those that have volunteered in the past will know how much fun this is. And if they say otherwise they are wrong, mistaken, or sober. So give it some thought and if you want to be part of the bestest group of MOCers at the rally, Please submit your Name, arrival date, best guess at arrival time (AM or PM helps).

Remember, parking team helpers will get priority parking on Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Those that can get in Tuesday morning would really be appreciated. No bribes and/or cookies required. After five PM it will cost a bourbon.

See, we can do this the easy way or the hard way.

Hi, the earlier the better. We have three slots open for Monday, if not taken before you commit. Otherwise Tuesday morning is the second best time.

Tom and Lisa Schultz can come in on Monday if you still need us

Tom and Lisa, If you want Monday, you got Monday. You will be part of the skeleton crew to help early Tuesday "Parking Team" arrivals in so they can come out and help. It just gives us that much more time to have fun. Thanks and let me know for sure if you can come in Monday.

Tom and Lisa and Steve. If you want to come in on Monday be sure to update your desires on the sign up sheet. I have to be able to pass the audit from the you know whos.

Sounds good, Be sure to put your info on the sign up sheet. Heads up, only the first five to agree to come in on Monday will be let in unless of course someone cancels and we have an opening.

We will arrive on September 2nd, but if you can't find enough for September 1st, we can probably work something out.

Jan, the choice is yours. We still have a couple of openings for the first. If you want to commit I can pencil you in. The MOC (especially me) appreciates any help you can give. Just be sure to update your info on the list.

Please schedule us for September 1, 2025, and I will update the list accordingly.

Thanks.
